Healthcare Solution Architect (Epic/FHIR)

Location: USA (Remote)

Duration: 3+ Month Contract (High possibility of extension)

About the Role

We are seeking a highly experienced Healthcare Solution Architect with expertise in Epic integrations, FHIR, HL7, SMART on FHIR, and Enterprise Healthcare Architecture. This role requires a strong technical leader who can design scalable healthcare solutions, lead interoperability initiatives, and collaborate with business, clinical, and engineering teams.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and architect enterprise healthcare solutions for clinical and business applications.
• Lead Healthcare Interoperability initiatives using Epic, FHIR, HL7, SMART on FHIR, and REST APIs.
• Develop solution architecture, integration strategies, and technical roadmaps.
• Work closely with business stakeholders, clinicians, and engineering teams to translate requirements into scalable technical solutions.
• Design secure APIs and healthcare data exchange solutions.
• Drive cloud modernization and digital transformation initiatives.
• Provide architectural guidance, perform technical reviews, and mentor development teams.
• Ensure HIPAA compliance, security, scalability, and high-performance architecture.

Required Experience

• 10+ years of Solution Architecture or Software Engineering experience.
• 5+ years of Healthcare IT experience supporting providers, payers, or healthcare technology organizations.
• Strong hands-on development experience in Java, C#, .NET, Python, or Node.js.
• Extensive experience with Epic integrations and healthcare interoperability.
• Strong knowledge of FHIR, HL7 v2/v3, SMART on FHIR, REST APIs, and healthcare integration standards.
• Experience designing enterprise integration and microservices-based architectures.
• Hands-on experience with AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
• Strong understanding of API management, event-driven architecture, and modern application development.
• Knowledge of SQL Server, Oracle, PostgreSQL, or NoSQL databases.
• Experience with HIPAA, Healthcare Security, and Data Governance.

Preferred Qualifications

• Epic certifications (Bridges, Interconnect, App Orchard, or related modules).
• Experience with interoperability platforms such as Mirth Connect, Cloverleaf, Rhapsody, or Redox.
• Experience building SMART on FHIR applications.
• TOGAF, AWS Solution Architect, or Azure Solution Architect certifications.
• Exposure to AI, analytics, or population health solutions.
