Job Summary

The Google Cloud Platform Data Platform Product Owner is responsible for defining, prioritizing, and delivering enterprise-scale data platform capabilities on Google Cloud Platform (Google Cloud Platform). As part of the Enterprise Data Platform (EDP) Product Management team, this role drives the strategic roadmap for data ingestion, processing, storage, governance, and consumption. The Product Owner partners closely with business stakeholders, engineering teams, and architecture, governance, and security leaders to deliver secure, scalable, and value-driven data solutions aligned to enterprise data strategy.
Responsibilities
  • Define and own the product vision, roadmap, and backlog for the Google Cloud Platform Data Platform, including data ingestion, transformation, storage, governance, and analytics capabilities.
  • Partner with business stakeholders and cross-functional teams to understand requirements and translate business needs into scalable platform features.
  • Lead prioritization and delivery of product capabilities that support enterprise-wide data use cases and outcomes.
  • Collaborate with architecture, governance, risk, and security teams to ensure compliance with enterprise standards, regulatory requirements, and cloud best practices.
  • Enable modern data capabilities using Google Cloud Platform-native services such as BigQuery, Dataflow, Pub/Sub, Dataproc, Dataplex, Cloud Storage, Cloud Composer, and IAM.
  • Develop and maintain a multi-year platform roadmap based on business value, investment analysis, and emerging cloud technologies.
  • Drive adoption of consistent, reusable data ingestion, integration, and consumption patterns across the organization.
  • Partner with engineering teams to deliver highly reliable, performant, and scalable data platform solutions.
  • Communicate product strategy, progress, and outcomes to executive leadership, senior stakeholders, and technical audiences.
  • Consult on and contribute to moderately complex change implementation initiatives, supporting large-scale planning and delivery efforts.
Minimum Qualifications
  • 10+ years of experience in data management, data platforms, data engineering, data governance, or analytics.
  • 5+ years of experience delivering enterprise data capabilities on modern cloud or big-data platforms (e.g., Google Cloud Platform, Hadoop, Spark ecosystems).
  • 5+ years of experience as a Product Owner or Product Manager, including defining product vision, roadmaps, and MVP delivery.
  • 4+ years of experience supporting change implementation initiatives or enterprise transformation programs.
  • 3+ years of experience in data architecture, cloud-based data engineering, or enterprise data platform design.
  • Equivalent experience demonstrated through work, consulting, education, training, or military service will be considered.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Deep hands-on knowledge of Google Cloud Platform data services, including BigQuery, Dataflow, Dataproc, Pub/Sub, Cloud Storage, Cloud Composer, Dataplex, and IAM.
  • Experience delivering cloud-based data ingestion, ETL/ELT, analytics, and data consumption solutions at scale.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills with the ability to collaborate and influence across all organizational levels.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and presentation communication skills.
  • Proven ability to document and communicate business requirements, user needs, and product features clearly.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage competing priorities, navigate ambiguity, and drive results in a fast-paced environment.
  • Bachelor's degree (BS/BA) or higher.
