Job Description:
Laboratory Technician - Microbial Control
The laboratory technician supports and conducts testing in an experimental lab on research and development projects, under the supervision and direction of senior researcher(s).
Seeking a candidate who can work independently conducting day to day test work. The Laboratory Technician will conduct microbiological, chemical, physical property, and process simulation laboratory tests to assist scientists in making qualitative and quantitative analyses.
Job Responsibilities:
Monitor product quality to ensure compliance to standards and specifications.
Prepare and conduct microbiological and chemical experiments, and analyses using techniques such as plating, antimicrobial efficacy tests, biofilm evaluations, statistical evaluations, chromatography, spectroscopy, physical and chemical separation techniques, and microscopy.
Compile and interpret results of tests and analyses
Provide technical support and assistance to senior scientists.
Follow specific instructions and procedures, coordinating multiple experiments.
Seek guidance from and/or communicate unexpected observations to senior researchers in a timely manner, when necessary.
Prepare chemical solutions for products and processes following standardized formulas, or create experimental formulas.
Maintain, calibrate, operate, clean, and sterilize laboratory instruments and equipment.
Write technical reports, prepare graphs and charts to document experimental results.
Inventory materials to maintain supplies.
Properly and safely handle, label, and dispose of chemical samples.

Detail oriented scientist able to work as part of an effective team
Able to independently schedule and complete multi-step biological tests, following established procedures.
Basic knowledge of safe chemical handling, chemical composition, structure and properties of substances and of the processes and transformations that they undergo. Training for safe handling and use of biocides will be provided.
Basic knowledge of aseptic techniques, microbiology/molecular biology laboratory techniques, wet chemistry techniques: measuring, mixing, calculations, dilutions, pipetting, titrations, density, viscosity, etc.
Candidates will be trained on bacteria count. Prior microbiology laboratory experience is required.
Prior familiarity with qPCR and related molecular biology techniques would be beneficial.
Basic software skills including MS Office programs and Teams; additional software/digital application training will be provided as necessary.
Education/Experience:
Bachelor's degree in microbiology, biochemistry, chemistry, biology or related field required.
0-2 years of experience required.
