  • This position will be In-Office
  • Monday - Friday, Day Shift
  • The hiring range for this role is typically between $29.54 and $38.26 an hour, with the full range extending to $46.99 an hour based on experience, internal equity, and career progression
  • Swing shift qualifies for a $1 shift differential

Primary Function:

The Engineering Technician II - Cabling is responsible for maintaining and upgrading prototypes, products, tools, and assemblies in support of Sigma Design's engineering activities. This includes mechanical assembly, cable harness fabrication, wiring integration, prototype modification, and troubleshooting with limited supervision.

Essential Job Functions - Responsibilities:
  • Maintain and upgrade prototypes using mechanical assembly, point-to-point wiring, soldering, and harness assembly
  • Build and modify cable harnesses, wire assemblies, and prototype cabling systems to engineering specifications
  • Perform cable cutting, stripping, crimping, termination, and connector installation for prototype assemblies
  • Route, secure, label, and integrate cabling within assemblies, fixtures, and prototype systems
  • Support builds involving pneumatics, sensors, motors, and other systems
  • Interpret wiring diagrams, cable drawings, and assembly documentation to support prototype builds
  • Troubleshoot design, build, cable, connector, and assembly issues using established procedures
  • Perform continuity checks and basic electrical verification of completed cable assemblies
  • Support engineering teams with prototype modifications, cable repairs, and build improvements
  • Perform electromechanical tests and record results independently
  • Follow Business Technology policies to protect sensitive data and reduce information security occurrences.

Education and Experience: (Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities)
  • High School Diploma or GED required; Associate's degree preferred
  • 2+ years relevant experience
  • Ability to read schematics, wiring diagrams, and mechanical prints
  • Experience with cable harness fabrication and prototype wiring assembly preferred
  • Experience using wire strippers, crimpers, cable termination tools, and soldering equipment
  • Familiarity with cable routing, connector installation, and harness integration processes
  • Experience performing continuity testing and basic electrical verification preferred
  • Experience with multimeters, oscilloscopes, and soldering tools
  • Mechanical aptitude and strong attention to quality and detail
  • Strong attention to detail and a safety-first mindset
  • Strong written and verbal English language communication skills
  • Excellent teamwork/interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively, both within and outside one's own work group
  • Demonstrate commitment and adherence to Sigma Design Core Values
  • Pass a post-offer background verification

Work Environment

Standard lab/production environment. Appropriate safety garments (PPE) must be worn. Occasionally may be required to work in environmental conditions that emulate typical user environments in order to facilitate design testing and validation. Occasionally may be required to travel as required to other facilities, clients, or suppliers. Must be able to stand and work as long as 12 hours in different positions. Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds unassisted.
