Summary

Company Description

Join SEAKR Engineering, a leading-edge provider of advanced electronics for space applications. Pushing the boundaries of technology on a mission to change the world for the better from space.

Job Description

SEAKR is seeking a Space Electronics Systems Engineer II to support the design, development, testing, and integration of electronic subsystems for our next-generation products. You will work closely with hardware, firmware, mechanical, power, and software teams to deliver reliable, radiation-tolerant electronics that meet project specifications.

Core Responsibilities
  • Subsystem Design & Implementation - Assist in developing detailed designs for avionics, payload electronics, power-distribution units, and environmental control systems based on high-level architecture. Produce derived specifications, block diagrams, and support test planning.
  • Component Evaluation - Research and recommend commercial or radiation-hardened components (COTS, rad-hard) under the guidance of senior engineers to meet mission specifications.
  • Hardware Prototyping - Participate in prototype build, assembly, and preparation for production-grade manufacturing.
  • Test Execution & Data Analysis - Execute system-level test plans (electrical, functional, EMI/EMC, vibration, thermal). Collect and analyze test data to support verification efforts and report findings.
  • Systems Integration Support - Help maintain electronic interface control documents (ICDs, EID). Coordinate with hardware, power, software, and mechanical teams to resolve interface issues.
  • Documentation - Assist in producing design specifications, test procedures, and operational manuals. Contribute to the living knowledge base for future teams.
  • Communication - Ability to understand technical requirements, translate customer needs into engineering tasks, and communicate progress within the team.
  • Team Collaboration - Work effectively within cross-functional teams, participate in design reviews, and support peer engineers.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications
  • Education - Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Experience - 2-5 years of systems engineering experience, preferably in the space or defense industry.
  • Technical Expertise - Solid knowledge of digital and analog electronics design (mixed-signal, high-speed). Familiarity with Requirements Management Environment (RME) tools. Basic understanding of radiation effects (TID, SEE) and mitigation techniques. Experience working with embedded microcontrollers/FPGA.
  • Testing & Validation - Experience executing electrical, EMI/EMC, thermal vacuum, vibration, and functional test plans. Ability to interpret test data for design feedback.
  • Soft Skills - Good analytical, problem-solving, and communication abilities. Strong teamwork and adaptability.

Preferred Skills
  • Familiarity with RF processing system architecture and testing.
  • Knowledge of space-qualified microprocessors or FPGA families.
  • Understanding of system power calculations throughout a design cycle.
  • Awareness of space-qualifying standards: NASA SP-3008, ECSS-E-ST-20C, MIL-STD-1553, SpaceWire, etc.

Additional Information

Compensation: Base salary range is $90,000-130,000/year, depending on qualifications. SEAKR has very rich medical, dental and vision insurance plans, along with a generous 401(k) retirement plan.
