Summary

Pharmacy Technician

Location: Pittsburgh, PA, 15275

Duration: 6 Month contract with Possible extension

They are open for both full-time and part-time:

Full Time Schedules: 8AM-4:30PM or 9AM-5:30PM or 10AM-6:30PM

Part Time Schedules: Can work 2 or 3 days per week in evening hours, 4+ hours (~4-8 PM)

Role is Mon to Fri- Saturday Sunday Off

Description:

Duties:

Under the direct supervision of the pharmacist, the Pharmacy Technician reviews prescription orders for completeness and data enters prescription information into the pharmacy management system in preparation for pharmacist verification. The technician obtains missing patient and/or prescriber demographic information when necessary and may be expected to perform some support tasks and/or administrative tasks. In addition, there will be responsibilities for performing benefits verification and gathering information for prior authorization submission. The Pharmacy Technician is expected to have a positive attitude and work well in a collaborative environment. This is a hybrid position in our Pittsburgh PA office (Robinson Township) and has a rotating schedule between the hours of 8a-8p ET Monday-Friday. There are no holiday or on call requirements.

Essential Functions:

  • Under the direct supervision of a pharmacist, data enter prescription information in the pharmacy management system for prescriptions received by Careform Pharmacy in an accurate and timely manner and in accordance with internal standard operating procedures and standard pharmacy practice. 50%
  • Collaborate with team members in the hub to create/maintain efficient workflow to meet schedules and quality requirements 5%
  • Receive inbound calls from patients or prescribers and assist with information regarding the prescription status 5%
  • Contact healthcare provider offices by phone or fax to obtain missing patient and/or prescriber demographic information when necessary 5%
  • Use available information to perform benefit investigations and gather information for prior authorization submission and follow up. 30%
  • Other duties as assigned 5%

Skills:

  • Experience (number of years) for people management jobs, indicate years required managing people
  • Minimum of six months recent pharmacy technician work experience required. In lieu of work experience, successful completion of a pharmacy technician training program is acceptable.
  • Experience with call centers and customer service preferred

Knowledge (concepts of the discipline)

  • Knowledge of pharmacy operations and state and federal rules and regulations.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Teams and basic computer skills.
  • All tasks and duties must be completed in accordance and compliance with HIPAA guidelines, State and Federal laws, and current company and client policies and procedures

Skills (level of measurable proficiencies)

  • Accuracy and attention to detail is a must. Ability to maneuver through various technology systems and online resources. Ability to effectively collaborate with team members in other departments. Ability to communicate well with others. Attention to accuracy, regulatory compliance, and efficiency is required. Must be dependable, possess a strong work ethic, and have reliable attendance.

  • Maintain strict compliance with company and client policies regarding business rules and ethics, as well as applicable local, state and national federal law

Education:

Education/Degree Requirements/Certifications (if applicable)

  • Must have earned a high school diploma or GED.
  • Must be registered with the Pennsylvania State Board of Pharmacy (and maintain licensure over duration of employment).
  • Certification with the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) is preferred
