Job Description

You will be the Air Vehicle Health Management / IVHM Systems Engineer - Level 2 for the Diagnostics, Prognostics, and Health Management (DPHM) Team within the Vehicle Systems Directorate, which is responsible for designing and maintaining diagnostic and prognostic capabilities that detect, isolate, and resolve root-cause failures in air-vehicle systems.

As the Air Vehicle Health Management / IVHM Systems Engineer - Level 2 you will be responsible for advancing the DPHM capability across development, deployment, and operations while supporting an Agile scrum environment.

"Your responsibilities will include:"

  • Develop, analyze, and mature diagnostic and prognostic solutions using model-based systems engineering, BIT, and FMECA techniques.
  • Perform testability and fault-isolation analyses to define diagnostic requirements and validate system performance.
  • Architect, model, and integrate health-management functions into aircraft subsystems, ensuring scalability and maintainability.
  • Coordinate schedules, work plans, and status briefings with technical leads and stakeholders to keep projects on track.
  • Collaborate with hardware, software, and vendor teams to resolve issues, drive corrective actions, and plan capability maturation.

You are a technically strong, independent systems engineer with deep knowledge of aircraft health-management concepts. You excel at translating complex requirements into actionable designs, thrive in cross-functional teams, and mentor junior engineers. Your analytical mindset drives continuous improvement of diagnostic and prognostic capabilities.

Basic Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in engineering or equivalent industry/technical experience

Experience in Systems engineering

Experience with data analysis and/or visualization using scripting languages (Python, SQL, Tableau, etc)

Desired skills

Prefer advanced degree in computer science, mechanical Engineering, electrical Engineering, or equivalent.

Experience with Agile practices and methodologies

Proactive engagement with team members to resolve technical issues.

Experience with Model Based Systems Engineering languages (including SysML)

Experience with diagnostic modeling in any of the following tool sets; DSI eXpress, Siemens Xcelerator/MADe, Dassault System 3DX.

Good problem solving and organizational skills.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills (i.e. the ability to communicate complex analysis with clarity and precision)

Demonstrated experience and integration of Aviation Vehicle Systems, Mission Systems, or Air Vehicle software.

Experience developing failure mode effects analysis and built-in-test (BIT) design.

Experience in maintaining, troubleshooting, or Prognostics & Health Management capability development in commercial or military aviation.

Familiarity with standard applied machine learning and data mining techniques.

Work Schedule Information

Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.

National Pay Statement

Pay Rate: The annual base salary range for this position in California, Massachusetts, and New York (excluding most major metropolitan areas), Colorado, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Minnesota, New Jersey, Vermont, Washington or Washington DC is $73,400 - $129,260. For states not referenced above, the salary range for this position will reflect the candidate's final work location. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only. Lockheed Martin considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/ training, key skills as well as market and business considerations when extending an offer.
Benefits offered: Medical, Dental, Vision, Life Insurance, Short-Term Disability, Long-Term Disability, 401(k) match, Flexible Spending Accounts, EAP, Education Assistance, Parental Leave, Paid time off, and Holidays.
(Washington state applicants only) Non-represented full-time employees: accrue at least 10 hours per month of Paid Time Off (PTO) to be used for incidental absences and other reasons; receive at least 90 hours for holidays. Represented full time employees accrue 6.67 hours of Vacation per month; accrue up to 52 hours of sick leave annually; receive at least 96 hours for holidays. PTO, Vacation, sick leave, and holiday hours are prorated based on start date during the calendar year.
This position is incentive plan eligible.

Premium Pay Statement

Pay Rate: The annual base salary range for this position in most major metropolitan areas in California, Massachusetts, and New York is $84,300 - $146,165. For states not referenced above, the salary range for this position will reflect the candidate's final work location. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only.
