Business Analyst - Data Governance & Optimization

Location: Houston, TX

Work Arrangement: Hybrid - 4 days onsite

Position Overview

We are seeking a highly motivated Business Analyst to join a growing Data & Optimization team focused on enterprise data governance, automation, analytics, and data enablement initiatives. This role will support strategic efforts to improve data usability, accessibility, quality, and governance across the organization.

The ideal candidate brings strong experience in data analysis, data governance, data mapping, and reporting, along with the ability to work cross-functionally to drive scalable, AI-assisted data practices. This position is well-suited for someone who thrives in fast-paced environments, enjoys solving complex data challenges, and can independently drive initiatives from concept through execution.

Key Responsibilities

Data Governance & Management
  • Support enterprise data governance and data management initiatives
  • Assist with data validation, cleansing, enrichment, and integrity monitoring
  • Help establish scalable data quality and compliance processes
  • Support metadata management, data lineage, and cataloging efforts

Data Analysis & Optimization
  • Conduct data analysis, proof-of-concepts (POCs), and pattern detection initiatives
  • Identify trends, anomalies, and insights that support business decision-making
  • Assist with KPI development, project objectives, and reporting initiatives
  • Utilize AI-assisted automation and advanced analytics to improve workflows

Reporting & User Enablement
  • Lead deployment and rollout of new reports, dashboards, and automation solutions
  • Create documentation including:
  • Data dictionaries
  • Job aids
  • Training materials
  • Process documentation
  • Deliver user training sessions and ongoing support to improve adoption

Cross-Functional Collaboration
  • Partner with business, operations, and technical teams to improve data accessibility
  • Support self-service and AI-assisted data initiatives
  • Translate business requirements into scalable data solutions
  • Collaborate on enterprise-wide process improvement efforts


Requirements

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in:
  • Data Science
  • Computer Science
  • Information Systems
  • Related technical field

Proven experience in:
  • Data analysis
  • Data governance
  • Data management

Strong understanding of:
  • Data mapping
  • Metadata management
  • Data quality processes

Proficiency with:
  • SQL
  • Power BI
  • Microsoft Office
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder collaboration abilities
  • Ability to manage multiple projects independently

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with:
  • Snowflake
  • Atlan
  • Microsoft Fabric

Familiarity with:
  • AI-assisted automation
  • Advanced analytics workflows
  • Enterprise data catalog tools

Knowledge of:
  • Data privacy regulations
  • Compliance standards
  • Enterprise data governance frameworks
