IT Director- Perm - Tampa, FL - $175,000 - $250,000

The final salary or hourly wage, as applicable, paid to each candidate/applicant for this position is ultimately dependent on a variety of factors, including, but not limited to, the candidate's/applicant's qualifications, skills, and level of experience as well as the geographical location of the position.

Our client is seeking a IT Director in Tampa, FL

Role Description
This is a hands-on, highly visible leadership role and will be the sole internal IT leader for the family office. The Director of IT will own the entire technology landscape end-to-end-strategy through execution-while managing external vendors and service providers as needed.
The role supports:
A 15-person internal team
The Founder/CEO directly
Multiple private residences (including on-site support as required)
Travel to properties is required periodically with advance notice. The role includes 24/7 on-call responsibility for the Founder/CEO for technology-related needs.
Strategy & Leadership
Serve as the sole internal IT leader and culture builder
Define and execute IT strategy aligned to organizational goals
Partner closely with the CFO and Founder/CEO
Lead full migration to Microsoft 365 and Azure
Introduce best practices, automation, and AI where appropriate
Select, manage, and optimize external IT vendors and partners
Infrastructure & Operations
Own all IT applications, infrastructure, and operations
Support corporate and residential technology environments
Manage IT budgets (OpEx / CapEx, licensing, subscriptions)
Implement ITIL-based service management processes
Build proactive monitoring, change management, and help desk capabilities
Ensure high availability, performance, and security across systems
Security, Risk & Governance
Develop and maintain IT governance frameworks (NIST, COBIT, ISO)
Own cybersecurity strategy, incident response, and disaster recovery
Ensure data privacy, confidentiality, and regulatory compliance
Lead security training and risk awareness across the organization
Manage audits, third-party assessments, and remediation efforts

Skills & Requirements

7+ years in senior IT leadership roles (family office experience strongly preferred)
Experience as a sole IT leader or first IT hire is highly desirable
Deep experience with Microsoft 365 and Azure (3+ years)
Strong understanding of cloud infrastructure, networking, security, and identity
Experience supporting executive leadership in high-trust environments
Have prior family office, private wealth, or UHNW (Ultra High Net Worth) environment experience, or
Have been a first or sole IT leader in a small, high-trust organization (think small Hedge Fund,
Are comfortable operating independently with full accountability
Microsoft 365, Azure, Entra ID
Networking, virtualization, storage, IaaS / PaaS / SaaS
Cybersecurity, incident response, disaster recovery
Governance frameworks (NIST, COBIT)
Automation and scripting (PowerShell, Python, Power Automate, etc.)
Extremely discreet and trustworthy
White-glove service mindset
Comfortable being on-call and hands-on when needed
Proactive, self-directed, and solutions-oriented
Able to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders

Benefits/Other Compensation:
Base Salary: approximately $175,000 - $250,000
Bonus: Target bonus opportunity (previous offer included 25% year-one bonus)
Relocation: Generous relocation package available - Open to candidates relocating to Tampa, FL
Benefits: Excellent overall benefits package - PTO: 3 weeks, 11 holidays and in December have 2 days discretionary
Health etc: Cover 80% of premium. Cover dependents. $50k life insurance.
Periodic travel to multiple private residences required
Travel planned in advance whenever possible
