Business Analyst 5 - Grant Management Systems

Location: Lansing, MI (Hybrid - 2 Days Onsite)

Duration: 6+ Months Contract (Possible Extension)

Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced Business Analyst to support a mission-critical grant management application responsible for administering federally funded programs. This role requires a collaborative professional who can bridge business and technical teams, gather and document requirements, support application enhancements, and contribute to successful project delivery throughout the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).

The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical, communication, and stakeholder management skills with experience supporting complex enterprise web applications.

Key Responsibilities

• Gather, analyze, and document business and functional requirements.
• Facilitate meetings and workshops with business stakeholders, technical teams, and project partners.
• Serve as the liaison between business users and development teams throughout the project lifecycle.
• Translate business requirements into detailed user stories, functional specifications, and technical documentation.
• Manage and prioritize enhancement requests, defects, and work items using Azure DevOps.
• Support User Acceptance Testing (UAT), defect validation, and issue resolution.
• Develop and maintain process documentation, workflows, and knowledge repositories using SharePoint.
• Coordinate with technical teams to ensure timely implementation of application enhancements.
• Lead requirements gathering sessions and stakeholder discussions.
• Prepare end-user documentation, training materials, and knowledge transfer artifacts.
• Track project progress and communicate status updates to stakeholders.
• Mentor junior Business Analysts and promote collaboration across cross-functional teams.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Business, Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
• 4+ years of Business Analyst experience.
• 5+ years of experience supporting complex web-based applications.
• 5+ years of experience gathering, analyzing, and documenting business requirements.
• 5+ years of experience leading meetings, workshops, presentations, and training sessions.
• 3+ years of experience serving as a liaison between business stakeholders and software development teams.
• Strong understanding of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).
• Experience supporting User Acceptance Testing (UAT), defect management, and business process improvements.
• Hands-on experience with Azure DevOps and Microsoft SharePoint.
• Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience supporting federal, state, or local grant management systems.
• Experience working on government-funded or public-sector technology initiatives.
• Experience creating wireframes, mockups, or prototypes using Figma or similar design tools.
• Leadership experience coordinating cross-functional teams and mentoring Business Analysts.
