Description
We are looking for a Network Administrator to join a collaborative IT team in Somerville, Massachusetts, supporting a growing organization in the waste and environmental services industry. This Contract position focuses on maintaining and improving enterprise network operations across multiple sites while contributing to infrastructure expansion and technology consistency. The role offers the opportunity to work hands-on with core networking systems, cloud-connected environments, and site-based IT initiatives in a fully onsite setting.
Responsibilities:
Manage day-to-day operation of enterprise networking systems, including firewalls, VPN connections, routers, switches, and wireless environments.
Diagnose and resolve network performance, access, and security-related issues to maintain stable business operations.
Contribute to the IT integration of newly acquired locations by deploying standardized infrastructure and equipment.
Coordinate and execute network refreshes, office technology rollouts, and infrastructure improvement projects across multiple sites.
Provide administrative support for VMware, Microsoft 365, and other cloud-enabled platforms connected to the network environment.
Act as a higher-level technical resource for Help Desk staff and provide guidance to less experienced team members.
Track network health, maintain accurate technical documentation, and recommend enhancements that strengthen uptime and protection.
Partner with IT leadership to support broader technology initiatives and identify opportunities to improve operational efficiency.
Requirements
At least 5 years of experience in network administration or infrastructure support within an enterprise environment.
Strong working knowledge of firewall technologies, VPNs, routing, switching, wireless networking, and LAN administration.
Experience supporting enterprise virtualization platforms such as VMware and core Microsoft technologies, including Active Directory and Microsoft 365.
Hands-on background with Cisco networking and Cisco routers in a business-critical environment.
Familiarity with multi-location network support and involvement in infrastructure deployments, upgrades, or company integration efforts.
Exposure to platforms such as Fortinet, Aruba, or Ubiquiti is advantageous.
Clear communication skills, a collaborative work style, and the ability to operate effectively in a fully onsite role in Somerville, Massachusetts.
