Summary

Job Title: Senior Systems Engineer - Smart Metering & Grid Infrastructure

Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced and technically agile Senior Systems Engineer to lead the validation, testing, and large-scale deployment of next-generation smart metering and grid infrastructure solutions. In this role, you will apply intensive and diversified engineering knowledge to solve complex, unique problems that require the adaptation of standard techniques. You will serve as the technical lead for hardware functionality, system integration, and field readiness, ensuring our metering solutions are robust, interoperable, and fully optimized for the field.

This is a senior-level position for an engineer who excels at bridging the gap between laboratory-based evaluation and real-world field deployment. You will collaborate with internal stakeholders and external technology partners to drive innovation, troubleshoot critical deployment issues, and develop the procedures necessary for seamless operational handoffs. If you possess a deep background in utility metering systems and are looking to drive the future of grid-edge technology, we want to hear from you.

Key Responsibilities
System Validation & Technical Development
Solution Validation: Lead the validation of metering hardware and application functionality; develop and execute rigorous test plans to ensure all systems meet performance and specification requirements.
Vendor & Tech Partnership: Collaborate directly with technology vendors to drive solution development, system enhancements, and long-term product roadmaps.
Advanced Integration: Support the integration and system-level testing of metering solutions within broader grid-management applications, ensuring full interoperability and data integrity.

Technical Troubleshooting & Field Readiness
Deployment Support: Spearhead troubleshooting and resolution of deployment-related issues, including field-tool diagnostics and customer-facing application challenges.
Pilot & Field Execution: Support pilot programs for foundational use cases, providing technical guidance to ensure field readiness and operational success.
Operational Documentation: Author comprehensive technical procedures, training manuals, and job aids for field technicians and operations teams.
Change Management: Coordinate cross-functionally during pre-deployment phases to ensure organizational alignment, process readiness, and successful stakeholder transition.

Technical Leadership
Complex Problem Solving: Apply advanced engineering principles to devise new approaches when standard procedures are insufficient; solve difficult problems encountered during the system lifecycle.
Cross-Functional Liaison: Serve as a technical expert for internal teams, facilitating the flow of information between engineering, IT operations, and field personnel.

Qualifications & Requirements
Minimum Qualifications
Education: Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
Experience Baseline: Minimum of 8+ years of total engineering experience, with at least 5+ years specializing in metering systems, smart grid technologies, or related grid infrastructure.
Technical Mastery:
oStrong understanding of AMI systems, interoperability standards, and testing methodologies.
oProven experience working in complex laboratory environments and cross-functional project teams.
oDemonstrated ability to adapt and modify engineering criteria to solve unique, large-scale technical challenges.
Core Competencies: Excellent written and verbal communication skills; strong analytical and problem-solving abilities; ability to translate technical concepts for stakeholders at all levels of the organization.

Preferred Attributes
Knowledge of wireless communication protocols and IT/Network infrastructure integration.
Prior experience with field deployments, technician training, and large-scale utility operations.
Experience in change management and organizational stakeholder coordination.
Ability to thrive in a high-autonomy role requiring both strategic oversight and hands-on technical support.
