Senior Backend Engineer (Full-Stack, Mobile-First)

A financially strong, Fortune-500-backed organization is launching a brand-new digital product and assembling a small, senior engineering team to build it from the ground up. This is a 0?1, mobile-first product with real enterprise scale-without the red tape, slow decision-making, or bureaucracy.
If you are a backend-first engineer who enjoys owning systems end-to-end, influencing architecture early, and working shoulder-to-shoulder with product and design, this is a rare opportunity to make an outsized impact.
What You'll Do
Own and build the backend foundation of a greenfield product, from initial APIs and data models through scale and reliability
Design, develop, and evolve backend services using NestJS (preferred) or Python, Ruby, or Java
Architect clean, scalable APIs and backend workflows that support a mobile-first experience
Contribute across the stack as needed-collaborating on frontend integrations built in Flutter (ideal), React, Angular, or similar frameworks
Make pragmatic architecture decisions balancing MVP speed with long-term scalability
Partner closely with product, UX, and fellow engineers to shape features and technical direction early
Take ownership of performance, observability, quality, and backend best practices
What You Bring
5+ years of professional experience as a backend-leaning full-stack engineer
Strong production experience building backend systems with Node.js (or Python, Ruby, or Java)
Experience owning backend processes end-to-end across multiple companies or industries (bonus for startup + enterprise mix)
Solid understanding of APIs, data modeling, security, and scalable backend architecture
Comfort contributing to frontend layers when needed (Flutter, React, Angular, or similar)
A product mindset-you care about outcomes, users, and long-term maintainability
Curiosity, ownership, and the confidence to bring your ideas to the table
