Indotronix is seeking a SQL Server DBA in New Albany, OH, for our Direct client

Job Title: SQL Server DBA

Location: New Albany, OH

Duration: 8 Months Contract to hire

Description:

We are looking for a talented and proactive SQL Server Database Administrator (DBA) with a strong background in SQL development and performance tuning, particularly within the utility sector.

This position involves a blend of database administration and development responsibilities, focusing on optimizing database performance and supporting application teams in real-time applications, SCADA, and transmission/distribution systems.

Responsibilities:

-Database Administration

-Monitor and maintain database health, performance, and security.

-Implement and manage database backup and recovery strategies.

-Ensure high availability and disaster recovery readiness.

-Manage user access and roles, ensuring compliance with data governance and security policies.

-Perform audits and vulnerability assessments to maintain security standards.

-Analyze and optimize SQL queries and overall database performance.

-Identify and resolve bottlenecks in database systems.

-Implement indexing, tuning strategies, and partitioning for performance gains.

-Resolve platform-related issues and participate in incident response.

-Coordinate with vendors for product-related issues, patches, and bug fixes.

-Work closely with application developers, system administrators, and business analysts to understand new requirements and recommend high-level direction and approach.

-Provide support for development, testing, and production environments.

-Develop scripts for monitoring, maintenance, and automation tasks.

-Utilize tools like shell scripting, Python, or Perl to automate processes.

Required Skills and Experience

-SQL Server DBA

-5-7 years of Proven experience in installation, configuration, and management of SQL Server (including multiple instances on a single server/VM).

-Expertise in performance tuning, index management, and SQL query optimization.

-Strong skills in TSQL and PowerShell.

Nice to Have:

Working experience with MongoDB and PostgreSQL.

Background in utility space, real-time applications, SCADA, and transmission/distribution systems is an added advantage.

Education & Experience:

Education and Experience Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree in a related field with 2 years of relevant experience

OR an Associate’s degree in a related field with 4 years of relevant experience

OR High school diploma/GED with 6 years of relevant experience
