We are looking for a talented and proactive SQL Server Database Administrator (DBA) with a strong background in SQL development and performance tuning, particularly within the utility sector. This position involves a blend of database administration and development responsibilities, focusing on optimizing database performance and supporting application teams in real-time applications, SCADA, and transmission/distribution systems.

Responsibilities
Database Administration
- Monitor and maintain database health, performance, and security.
- Implement and manage database backup and recovery strategies.
- Ensure high availability and disaster recovery readiness.
- Manage user access and roles, ensuring compliance with data governance and security policies.
- Perform audits and vulnerability assessments to maintain security standards.
- Analyze and optimize SQL queries and overall database performance.
- Identify and resolve bottlenecks in database systems.
- Implement indexing, tuning strategies, and partitioning for performance gains.
- Resolve platform-related issues and participate in incident response.
- Coordinate with vendors for product-related issues, patches, and bug fixes.
- Work closely with application developers, system administrators, and business analysts to understand new requirements and recommend high-level direction and approach.
- Provide support for development, testing, and production environments.
- Develop scripts for monitoring, maintenance, and automation tasks.
- Utilize tools like shell scripting, Python, or Perl to automate processes.
qualifications:
Required Skills and Experience
SQL Server DBA
- 5-7 years of Proven experience in installation, configuration, and management of SQL Server (including multiple instances on a single server/VM).
- Expertise in performance tuning, index management, and SQL query optimization.
- Strong skills in TSQL and PowerShell.
Nice to Haves
- Working experience with MongoDB and PostgreSQL.
- Background in utility space, real-time applications, SCADA, and transmission/distribution systems is an added advantage.
Education & Experience
Education and Experience Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in a related field with 2 years of relevant experience
- OR Associate's degree in a related field with 4 years of relevant experience
- OR High school diploma/GED with 6 years of relevant experience
