Microsoft Office 365 Security Consultant

Role Overview

We are seeking a highly experienced, hands-on Microsoft Office 365 Security Consultant / Lead to serve as the strategic owner and technical Subject Matter Expert (SME) for enterprise Microsoft 365 security initiatives. This role combines operational leadership, architecture, engineering, and execution responsibilities across the Microsoft 365 security ecosystem.

The ideal candidate will be responsible for defining and executing the Microsoft 365 security roadmap, optimizing security operations, implementing Zero Trust strategies, and driving enterprise-wide security improvements across identity, messaging, collaboration, endpoints, and data protection.

This position requires a strong blend of strategic thinking, technical depth, cross-functional leadership, and hands-on configuration expertise within Microsoft 365 environments.

Key Responsibilities

Microsoft 365 Security Leadership & SME Responsibilities

• Serve as the primary SME and architect for Microsoft Office 365 security across the enterprise.
• Own and drive operational excellence for Microsoft 365 security platforms.
• Lead prioritization, design decisions, implementation planning, and phased execution of security initiatives.
• Perform hands-on tenant configuration, policy tuning, feature deployments, and troubleshooting.
• Act as the escalation point for complex Microsoft 365 security incidents, architecture reviews, and design decisions.
• Evaluate emerging Microsoft security technologies and integrate them into the enterprise roadmap.

Infrastructure & Cloud Security Operations

• Design, implement, and maintain security controls across:
  • Exchange Online
  • Microsoft Teams
  • OneDrive
  • Intune
  • Azure AD / Entra ID
• Configure and optimize:
  • Conditional Access Policies
  • Identity Protection
  • Tenant Restrictions
  • External Collaboration Controls
  • MFA & Authentication Policies

Required Skills & Experience

Technical Expertise

• 10+ years of IT/Security experience with deep expertise in Microsoft 365 Security.
• Experience supporting large multinational enterprises with 10,000+ users.
• Strong hands-on experience with:
  • Microsoft Defender Suite
  • Microsoft Purview
  • Email Data Loss Prevention (DLP)

Soft Skills

• Excellent communication and presentation skills.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
• Ability to work independently in fast-paced enterprise environments.
