The Work:

The Senior Cloud Developer will support the design, implementation, and operation of robust and scalable cloud infrastructure on Microsoft Azure. This role is pivotal in integrating Azure architectural principles, Infrastructure as Code (IaC) practices, DevOps automation, and security enhancements to modernize operations and achieve compliance standards. The ideal candidate will collaborate across development and operations teams to continuously optimize infrastructure, strengthen security, and bolster key migration efforts.

Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design, implement, and manage Azure infrastructure, including compute, networking, and storage services, ensuring scalability, reliability, and efficiency.
  • Integrate unauthorized Azure resources into source control and refactor existing IaC repositories, with a focus on PowerShell scripts and advanced automation techniques.
  • Automate deployments, operational workflows, and environment infrastructure using IaC tools (e.g., ARM, Terraform, Ansible) and scripting to streamline processes.
  • Analyze Azure scan findings and address critical and high-priority issues to meet compliance and security standards, ensuring governance best practices are adhered to.
  • Monitor cloud environments regularly, troubleshoot complex issues, and implement strategies to optimize performance and costs.
  • Actively work with development, operations, and security teams, providing expert guidance on Azure resource optimization, best practices, and governance.
  • Configure and manage CI/CD pipelines, ensuring seamless integrations and deployments across development and production environments.
  • Other duties as assigned.


Qualifications

Qualifications - Here's What You Need:
  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field. Equivalent experience may be considered.
  • Minimum of 8 years of expertise in cloud engineering, DevOps, or infrastructure-focused roles.
  • Proven hands-on proficiency with key Microsoft Azure services, including automation, IaC tools (PowerShell, ARM templates, Terraform or Ansible experience preferred).
  • Extensive expertise in cloud security remediation, compliance frameworks, and governance.
  • Advanced scripting capabilities for automation and debugging.
  • Practical experience configuring and troubleshooting modern CI/CD pipelines.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Outstanding communication and collaboration abilities across teams and stakeholders.
  • Familiarity with dynamic environments, including Agile/Scrum workflows.
  • Possess or be willing to obtain Microsoft Azure certifications, such as Azure Architect, Azure Administrator, or Azure DevOps Engineer.
  • Active Top Secret Security Clearance.
  • Must be able to pass a background check. May require additional background checks as required by projects and/or clients at any time during employment.

Minimum Skills Required:
  • Proficient in Microsoft and Adobe toolsets, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Acrobat, etc.
  • Strong understanding of software development best practices.
  • Ability to recommend and implement software upgrades.
  • Experience in software maintenance and testing to ensure continued functionality.
  • Excellent problem-solving and debugging skills.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.
  • Familiarity with modern web development frameworks and libraries.
  • Experience with version control systems such as Git.
  • Knowledge of database management and integration.
  • Understanding of web security best practices.
  • Ability to document processes and code for future maintenance and upgrades.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Certifications in AWS or additional Azure domains.
  • Experience with hybrid cloud platforms and containers (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).
  • Advanced understanding of GitLab CI/CD and its integration capabilities.
  • Expertise in advanced networking concepts in cloud environments.

Working Conditions:
  • Professional office environment.
  • Ability to work on site in Washington, DC.
  • Must be physically and mentally able to perform duties extended periods of time.
  • Ability to use a computer and other office productivity tools with sufficient speed to meet the demands of this position.
  • Must be able to establish a productive and professional workspace.
  • Must be able to sit for long periods of time looking at computer screen.

  • May be asked to travel for business or professional development purposes.
  • May be asked to work hours outside of normal business hours.
