Role - Technical Writer
Location - San Jose, CA [Onsite]
Job Description:
Responsibilities-
1. Create /Modify a topic for a feature that currently lacks documentation or needs upgrade.
1. Usually one topic at a time (i.e. one project == one topic, maybe two)
2. Work with SMEs and other stakeholders to obtain necessary information, verify technical accuracy, topic quality, and so on.
2. Analyze content for an existing area and suggest improvements
2. Assess quality, usefulness, etc.
3. Suggest meaningful improvements beyond copy edit
Skills and experience-
1. 8 – 10 years of relevant experience
2. BS / MS / MBA in computer science / engineering / business management or relevant education
3. Good understanding of CI/CD pipeline and experience in version control
4. Core developer technical writing competency
a. Knowledge of developer workflows, proven experience working in an environment with APIs and software development tools
b. Familiarity with contributing content in a shared environment with source control
c. Familiarity with Markdown
d. Familiarity with HTML/XHTML/CSS
5. Basic ability to read and understand small snippets of code
6. Google experience in documentation
Nice to have - not required
1. Android/Chrome understanding, ideally documenting Android code or APIs
2. Programming experience (JavaScript)
3. Git experience
