Role Overview

The IT Project Manager for AMI (Advanced Metering Infrastructure) will support all phases of a large-scale enterprise technology program lifecycle, including planning, execution, monitoring, and closure. This role is responsible for coordinating project activities, tracking progress, facilitating communication, and supporting governance processes across technical and business teams. The Project Manager will contribute to business process mapping, requirements gathering, and solution alignment to ensure successful delivery of project objectives.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities
  • Support project planning, execution, monitoring, and closure activities for a complex enterprise technology initiative.
  • Coordinate and track project tasks across multiple workstreams, ensuring alignment with milestones, deliverables, and dependencies.
  • Develop, maintain, and update integrated project plans, schedules, and work breakdown structures.
  • Schedule and facilitate project meetings, prepare meeting materials, and document action items and decisions.
  • Assist in gathering and documenting business and technical requirements, ensuring traceability across requirements, design artifacts, and delivered solutions.
  • Support business process mapping efforts to ensure alignment between operational needs and technical implementation.
  • Track scope against approved baseline requirements and support change control processes.
  • Document scope changes, assess impacts on schedule, cost, and resources, and escalate risks and issues to senior leadership as appropriate.
  • Coordinate activities between business stakeholders, technical teams, and external vendors under guidance.
  • Assist with preparation of resource plans and track effort and cost estimates across integration, data, infrastructure, and testing workstreams.
  • Support solution design activities and validate alignment with project objectives and requirements.
  • Monitor task completion, identify risks or blockers, and support mitigation planning.
  • Prepare project documentation, dashboards, and status reports for program leadership and stakeholders.
  • Ensure clear communication and collaboration across cross-functional teams throughout the project lifecycle.


Required Skills & Attributes
  • Broad knowledge of IT infrastructure and enterprise systems with the ability to understand the "big picture" and identify potential gaps in delivery.
  • Project management experience supporting or managing large-scale enterprise initiatives, including scope, schedule, budget, risk, issue, and deliverable management.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to develop dashboards, reports, and metrics using Excel and other analytical tools.
  • Experience supporting large IT programs, including solution blueprinting, implementation planning, and end-to-end delivery management.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across technical and non-technical teams.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving abilities and proactive engagement with cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Ability to integrate quickly into a fast-paced environment, absorb information efficiently, and deliver results with appropriate direction and guidance.
  • Strong balance of business acumen and technical understanding to translate stakeholder needs into practical technology solutions.
  • Proficiency in working with data sets using Microsoft Excel, including pivot tables and basic analysis.
  • Ability to personally execute day-to-day project management deliverables in addition to coordinating and delegating tasks.
  • Adaptable, receptive to feedback, and willing to take on additional responsibilities as needed.


Desired Skills & Attributes
  • Experience with large-scale utility, infrastructure, or smart technology programs.
  • Prior exposure to advanced metering, smart grid, or similar large enterprise technology deployments.
  • Experience working with complex system integrations (e.g., data management systems, operational systems, ERP platforms, or enterprise applications).
  • Familiarity with cloud migration or cloud-based implementation initiatives.
  • Ability to present technical concepts and project information clearly to non-technical audiences.
  • Experience supporting multi-vendor environments and coordinated delivery models.

Education Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, business, computer science, or a related discipline (including liberal arts or other business-related fields).
