Duration: 12-Month W2 Contract
Pay Rate: $115–$127/hour (depending on experience)

About the Role

Russell Tobin is seeking an experienced IT Senior Project Manager to support a large-scale Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI 2.0) program for a leading utilities organization. This role will lead full lifecycle project delivery and system integrator coordination across a complex enterprise IT environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead all phases of the project lifecycle: pre-planning, planning, execution, monitoring, and closure
• Manage system integrator engagement and coordinate across multiple workstreams
• Drive resource planning, task planning, and cost estimation across integration, data, infrastructure, and testing
• Develop and refine high-level solution blueprints aligned to scope, schedule, and budget
• Facilitate business process mapping and requirements clarification to align technical delivery with business needs
• Integrate infrastructure, data flows, and system interfaces into delivery planning
• Oversee Planning & Analyze phases, including:
  • Solution design validation
  • Technical feasibility reviews
  • Build phase preparation (environment readiness, development sequencing, testing strategy, deployment rollout)
• Serve as a cross-functional leader bridging business stakeholders and technical teams
• Execute hands-on project management deliverables while overseeing broader program activities

Required Qualifications

• Extensive experience managing large-scale IT programs and end-to-end delivery
• Strong background in resource planning, solution blueprinting, and implementation planning
• Experience in utilities or other regulated industries
• Hands-on experience with AMI (Advanced Metering Infrastructure), smart grid, or electric utility systems (AMI 1.0 or 2.0 preferred)
• Understanding of meter-to-cash processes
• Experience with cloud migration (on-prem to cloud environments)
• Experience with system integrations, including:
  • MDMS
  • Head-end systems
  • OMS
  • SAP
  • ADMS
• Strong understanding of IT infrastructure and ability to manage complex dependencies
• Excellent communication, problem-solving, and leadership skills
• Ability to operate effectively in fast-paced, large-scale programs
• Strong balance of business acumen and technical expertise

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with utility technology strategy and investment planning
• Ability to communicate technical concepts to non-technical audiences and senior leadership
• Experience with large-scale data conversion projects (millions of records)
• Strong data analysis skills (Excel, Pivot Tables, etc.)
• Background in corporate strategy, strategic planning, or management consulting

Education

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business, Computer Science, or a related field
