Scrum Master

Location: Columbus, OH/Brevard, NC/Plano, TX

Role: W2 contract with strong possibility to convert to FTE

Duration: 12 months

Must Have:

  • Influential Leadership
  • Risk & Dependency Management
  • Executive Escalation
  • Enterprise Agile Delivery
  • Strong knowledge in PAM

About this role:

Our client is seeking a Scrum Master who demonstrates strong leadership presence with the ability to drive outcomes, influence without authority, and proactively escalate risks and impediments early and often.

This role requires an individual who is comfortable operating in ambiguity, exercising sound judgment, and engaging the right stakeholders at the right time to protect delivery commitments and reduce enterprise risk.

Specifically, the Scrum Master is expected to:

  • Actively drive resolution of team impediments, cross team dependencies, and delivery risks by influencing Product Owners, technology partners, and leaders through clear, fact based communication.
  • Identify, assess, and escalate risks early within the sprint or planning horizon ensuring leadership has timely visibility into issues that may impact scope, schedule, quality, or compliance.
  • Escalate with intent and clarity, providing actionable context, options, and recommendations rather than simply raising awareness.
  • Demonstrate ownership and accountability for surfacing concerns, challenging assumptions, and advocating for the team when delivery is at risk.
  • Maintain a strong leadership presence during ceremonies and stakeholder interactions, confidently navigating difficult conversations and reinforcing agile discipline and expectations.
  • Operate as a trusted escalation partner, ensuring transparency into decision points, tradeoffs, and process overrides, while reinforcing enterprise agile and risk management standards

In this role, you will:

  • Facilitate the scrum process with cross functional impact that involve moderately complex projects, non-projects, or maintenance work
  • Guide the scrum teams to follow Agile and Scrum practices to actively promote prioritization, team readiness, and commitment for each Sprint
  • Optimize scrum team velocity to identify improvement opportunities to achieve higher levels of team performance and making work visible through backlog refinement, WIP, and dependency tracking to improve flow/predictability.
  • Deliver capabilities using agile practices while also following the Software Development Lifecycle, business process mapping, and various release processes as appropriate to ensure all risk, security, and development requirements are met by evidence readiness and established definition of done.
  • Partner with discipline managers about governance policies and adherence to corporate standards
  • Facilitate the Scrum Agile ceremonies for the teams
  • Collaborate with product owners, program or project managers to communicate delivery of work product from the team, escalate key risks and issues impeding scrum team effectiveness, remove impediments, coordinate dependencies, and escalate risks early.
  • Collaborate and consult with peers, colleagues and managers to resolve issues and achieve goals
  • Interact with internal customers
  • Receive direction from leaders and exercise independent judgment while developing the knowledge to understand function, policies, procedures, and compliance requirements

Required Qualifications:

  • 4+ years of Agile Scrum Master experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education
  • Delivery Accountability
