Summary

SQL Data Architect
Our client is seeking a SQL Data Architect to lead the design, development, and implementation of a centralized enterprise data platform that supports operational reporting, advanced analytics, forecasting, and strategic decision-making. This individual will partner with business and technical stakeholders to transform complex data from multiple sources into a scalable, secure, and user-friendly environment. The ideal candidate combines deep SQL Server expertise with strong data architecture, analytics, and stakeholder engagement skills to deliver solutions that improve operational visibility and long-term planning capabilities.

SQL Data Architect Responsibilities

  • Design and implement scalable Microsoft SQL Server database architectures, including logical and physical data models, data relationships, indexing strategies, and performance optimization.
  • Lead discovery sessions with business stakeholders to gather requirements, assess existing data sources, define business rules, and identify reporting and analytics needs.
  • Develop and maintain centralized data repositories that support historical data management, operational reporting, forecasting, predictive analytics, and decision-support initiatives.
  • Design and implement secure data integration solutions that connect internal and external data sources while minimizing duplication and maintaining data integrity.
  • Create dashboards, scorecards, KPI reporting, data visualizations, and analytical models that support operational performance, financial oversight, resource planning, and executive decision-making.
  • Establish repeatable data loading, transformation, validation, and maintenance processes to ensure data quality, consistency, and reliability.
  • Develop low-code or no-code solutions that enable authorized business users to maintain approved datasets while enforcing governance and security standards.
  • Implement role-based access controls, auditing mechanisms, validation rules, and data governance practices to support compliance and accountability.
  • Support forecasting, trend analysis, predictive modeling, and advanced analytical initiatives using SQL, reporting tools, and Python-based workflows where appropriate.
  • Lead testing efforts, user acceptance activities, technical documentation, training, and knowledge transfer to ensure long-term sustainability of the solution.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional technology, GIS, operations, and business teams to align data solutions with organizational standards and strategic objectives.
  • Provide project coordination, implementation support, status reporting, and post-deployment stabilization assistance throughout the project lifecycle.

SQL Data Architect Qualifications

  • 10+ years of experience designing, developing, and implementing enterprise database and data architecture solutions.
  • Advanced expertise with Microsoft SQL Server, including database design, performance tuning, data modeling, and query optimization.
  • Strong experience building data integration, ETL, data migration, and data quality management solutions across multiple source systems.
  • Demonstrated success developing reporting, dashboarding, business intelligence, analytics, forecasting, and performance management solutions.
  • Experience translating business requirements into scalable technical architectures and actionable data solutions.
  • Strong understanding of relational database design principles, metadata management, data governance, and security best practices.
  • Experience implementing role-based security models, auditing controls, and business-user data maintenance frameworks.
  • Proficiency creating technical documentation, data dictionaries, design specifications, and operational runbooks.
  • Experience supporting complex operational environments involving asset management, infrastructure, utility operations, field services, or similar industries is highly preferred.
  • Familiarity with predictive analytics, statistical modeling, and Python-based analytical workflows is preferred.
  • Strong communication, facilitation, and stakeholder management skills with the ability to work effectively across technical and non-technical teams.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities, drive projects from concept through implementation, and deliver high-quality solutions in a collaborative environment.
