Role Overview
As a Data Quality Assurance Engineer, you will play a critical role in ensuring the reliability, accuracy, and scalability of complex data systems. You will focus on validating data pipelines, ETL processes, and analytics outputs across large-scale data platforms. Partnering closely with data engineers, analytics teams, and product stakeholders, you will help embed quality practices throughout the data lifecycle while contributing to existing automation frameworks and mentoring others on data-focused QA methodologies.
This role requires strong problem-solving skills, hands-on data validation experience, and the ability to reason about data quality in distributed and big-data environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and execute data-focused test strategies for complex and ambiguous data pipelines, ETL workflows, and analytics use cases.
- Contribute to an existing automation framework.
- Work with data pipelines, PySpark, big data, SQL, and ETL processes.
- Design test plans that split work into parallel, independent tasks.
- Anticipate and prevent future defects through strategic test planning.
- Partner with development teams to establish the quality bar for products.
- Create instrumentation to measure quality, both pre-release and in production.
- Improve engineer efficiency and share best practices across teams.
- Actively mentor and develop others, improving their test knowledge and engineering practices.
Required Qualifications
Experience: 5+ years of QA experience.
Technical Skills:- Hands-on experience testing data pipelines, ETL processes, and large datasets.
- Strong SQL skills and experience with data dashboards.
- Python scripting.
- Experience with test automation, scripts, and test case design.
- Proficiency using Python for test development and problem-solving (live coding, logic-based use cases)
- Solid understanding of QA methodologies, test case design, and validation strategies for data systems
- Experience working in big data environments (data lakes, distributed systems, or large-scale datasets)
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
Preferred Qualifications
- A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
- Experience with Databricks or AWS.
- Expertise in advanced test automation architecture and frameworks.
- Experience with DevOps practices and tools for continuous testing.
- Knowledge of machine learning testing approaches.
- Experience with service virtualization and mock services.
- Demonstrated ability to establish quality gates and metrics in CI/CD pipelines.
