Job Description: SAP Upgrade Lead BW/4HANA, BODS, BOBJ
Role Summary
We are seeking an experienced SAP Upgrade Lead to lead and manage end-to-end upgrade and migration initiatives involving SAP BW/4HANA, SAP BODS (BusinessObjects Data Services), and SAP BOBJ (BusinessObjects BI Platform). The role will be responsible for planning, execution, risk management, and coordination across technical and business teams to ensure successful delivery of SAP analytics modernization programs.
Key Responsibilities
Lead BW on HANA / BW to BW/4HANA upgrade or migration initiatives, including system conversion, shell, or landscape transformation approaches
Own the upgrade strategy and roadmap for BW/4HANA, BODS, and BOBJ
Manage end-to-end upgrade lifecycle: assessment, planning, sandbox, development, testing, cutover, and go-live
Perform and oversee system impact analysis, including custom code remediation, data flow redesign, and performance optimization
Lead BODS upgrades, repository migrations, and compatibility checks with BW/4HANA
Lead BOBJ platform upgrades, including BI Launchpad, WebI, universes (UNX), security, and scheduling
Coordinate technical testing (unit, integration, regression, UAT support) and resolve upgrade-related defects
Manage cutover planning, dry runs, and production go-live activities
Act as the primary technical point of contact for stakeholders, system integrators, and SAP
Ensure adherence to SAP best practices, governance, and compliance standards
Identify risks, dependencies, and mitigation plans; provide regular status reporting to leadership
Required Skills & Experience
15+ years of SAP experience with strong focus on BW4HANA, BODS, and BOBJ
Hands-on experience leading at least one full BW/4HANA upgrade or migration
Strong expertise in:
1. SAP BW / BW on HANA / BW/4HANA
2. SAP BODS (ETL, data flows, repositories)
3. SAP BOBJ (WebI, Universes, BI Platform administration)
Experience with SP/EHP upgrades, system conversions, and patch management
Strong understanding of HANA architecture and performance optimization
Experience working in complex, multi-system SAP landscapes
Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills
Ability to lead cross-functional and offshore/onshore teams
