Role Overview
GSFS is seeking a seasoned Tableau Lead Developer to design, develop, and lead analytics reporting for a cloud-modernized enterprise application. This role requires a hands-on technical leader who can translate business requirements into impactful, scalable Tableau dashboards while collaborating closely with cloud engineering, data engineering, and business stakeholders.
The ideal candidate will bring deep Tableau expertise, strong data modeling skills, experience with modern cloud data platforms, and proven leadership capabilities. The role requires working onsite in Houston, TX, four days per week.
Key Responsibilities
Tableau Development & Leadership
- Lead the end-to-end design and development of Tableau dashboards, reports, and visual analytics for cloud-based applications.
- Establish and enforce Tableau best practices, including performance optimization, dashboard design standards, and governance.
- Serve as the Tableau subject matter expert (SME) for GSFS, providing technical guidance to junior developers and analysts.
- Conduct design reviews and ensure dashboards meet usability, scalability, and performance requirements.
Cloud & Data Integration
- Develop Tableau solutions leveraging cloud data platforms such as Redshift
- Partner with data engineering teams to define optimized data models, extracts, and semantic layers for reporting.
- Work with REST APIs, cloud storage, and modern data pipelines to integrate analytics with cloud-native applications.
- Ensure secure and role-based access to dashboards following enterprise data security standards.
Business & Stakeholder Engagement
- Collaborate with business stakeholders, product owners, and application teams to gather reporting and visualization requirements.
- Translate complex business needs into intuitive, actionable dashboards and KPIs.
- Present dashboard walkthroughs and analytical insights to senior leadership and client stakeholders.
- Support UAT cycles and incorporate feedback to refine analytics deliverables.
Performance, Quality & Operations
- Optimize Tableau dashboards for performance, scalability, and large data volumes.
- Monitor and troubleshoot Tableau Server/Cloud usage, refreshes, and performance bottlenecks.
- Define documentation, data definitions, and usage guides to ensure adoption and self-service analytics.
- Support production deployments and ongoing enhancements in an agile delivery model.
Required Qualifications
- 8+ years of overall BI / analytics experience, with 5+ years of advanced Tableau development.
- Proven experience as a Tableau Lead or Senior Tableau Developer in large-scale, enterprise environments.
- Strong hands-on expertise with:
- Tableau Desktop, Tableau Server, and/or Tableau Cloud
- Advanced calculations, LOD expressions, parameters, actions, and dashboard optimization
- Experience working with cloud-based data platforms (AWS)
- Strong SQL skills and experience working with complex datasets.
- Experience supporting analytics for cloud-modernized or microservices-based applications.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Ability to work onsite in Houston, TX, four days per week.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in financial services or large enterprise domains.
- Exposure to data modeling tools and semantic layers (e.g., dbt, Star Schema design).
- Knowledge of CI/CD concepts for BI and analytics deployments.
- Experience with Tableau REST APIs, embedding Tableau dashboards within applications.
- Familiarity with Agile / Scrum delivery environments.
