The Maritime and Land Training Solutions (MLTS) portfolio offers a diverse array of training programs for both maritime and land applications. This includes, but is not limited to, the Advanced Center for Experimentation and Simulation (ACES), a program focused on multi-domain and Live, Virtual, and Constructive (LVC) simulation and training opportunities, the Aegis Combat System Training and the LCS Integrated Tactical Trainer (ITT), Combined Arms Tactical Trainer (CATT), Advanced Gunnery Training System (AGTS), Vehicle Tactical Engagement Simulation System (VTESS) and other training systems, all designed to enhance the operational readiness and effectiveness of military personnel through innovative technologies and comprehensive training programs.
THE WORK
The Chief Engineer (CE) for MLTS Submarket serves as the technical authority in their mission area, working closely with Program Managers, Business Development and customers. Their responsibilities include ensuring technical design integrity, overseeing system performance, and maintaining overall architecture throughout the product life cycle. Leading the Engineering Project Management (EPM) team and extended staff is crucial to their success. Additionally, the Chief Engineer would also be tasked with integrating cutting-edge technologies into training programs to enhance realism and operational readiness. Continuous improvement and innovation are key aspects of their role, as they strive to keep training solutions aligned with the evolving needs of military forces.
Specific CE responsibilities will include:
Technical integrity of the product(s) to meet the customer's/user's needs within the program's cost and schedule constraints
Owning the technical baseline and technical issue resolution, and ensuring selected designs are robust and include appropriate margins to facilitate safety, performance, producibility and operational availability/supportability
Providing technical inputs to overall architecture and system performance including technical performance measurements and risk assessments
Partner with LMS Chief Engineer to ensure overall technical rigor and adherence to engineering standards and processes to support the needs of customers
Ensuring early risk identification and mitigation, incorporation of lessons learned, and strong systems engineering
Investing in leader and employee development and critical skill bench strength
Responsible for the hiring, coaching, mentoring, and career development of EPMs to support the sub-market segment
Foster an environment of innovation and agility in the portfolio both in technology offerings and in execution performance
Ability to communicate execution status, technical solutions and issues internally to program leadership, technical leadership and partner organizations.
Conduct Reviews with Customers & Suppliers that identify and mitigate cost, technical, and schedule risks
~20% Travel may be required

Basic Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in STEM or Science Field
Demonstrated experience managing multi-disciplinary technical teams
Demonstrated experience managing technical, cost, and schedule for a portfolio
Experience with Digital Transformation philosophies to achieve business results
Demonstrated experience with engineering Hardware development processes and Systems Engineering processes, knowledge of DevSecOps process.
Desired skills
Previous experience in a leadership position
Prior experience in developing technology road maps and IRAD/CRAD
Experience with Earned Value Management and managing material spend plans
Knowledge of a variety of advanced manufacturing processes
Knowledge of a variety of lab and environmental testing capabilities; including but not limited to material testing techniques, structural and environmental testing techniques, EMI emission or susceptibility testing, and fabrication
Military Background, particularly with weaponry and operational experience

Ability to work remotely
Part-time Remote Telework: The employee selected for this position will work part of their work schedule remotely and part of their work schedule at a designated Lockheed Martin facility. The specific weekly schedule will be discussed during the hiring process.
Work Schedule Information
Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.
National Pay Statement
Pay Rate: The annual base salary range for this position in California, Massachusetts, and New York (excluding most major metropolitan areas), Colorado, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Minnesota, New Jersey, Vermont, Washington or Washington DC is $164,300 - $289,800. For states not referenced above, the salary range for this position will reflect the candidate's final work location. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only. Lockheed Martin considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/ training, key skills as well as market and business considerations when extending an offer.

(Washington state applicants only) Non-represented full-time employees: accrue at least 10 hours per month of Paid Time Off (PTO) to be used for incidental absences and other reasons; receive at least 90 hours for holidays. Represented full time employees accrue 6.67 hours of Vacation per month; accrue up to 52 hours of sick leave annually; receive at least 96 hours for holidays. PTO, Vacation, sick leave, and holiday hours are prorated based on start date during the calendar year.

Premium Pay Statement
Pay Rate: The annual base salary range for this position in most major metropolitan areas in California, Massachusetts, and New York is $189,000 - $327,635. For states not referenced above, the salary range for this position will reflect the candidate's final work location. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only.
