Job Description

We are seeking an experienced IBM InfoSphere Change Data Capture (CDC) Consultant to design, implement, administer, monitor, and support enterprise data replication and change data capture solutions. The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on experience with IBM InfoSphere CDC / IBM Data Replication, database technologies, replication architecture, troubleshooting, and performance optimization.

Roles & Responsibilities

• Design, configure, implement, and support IBM InfoSphere Change Data Capture (CDC) solutions for enterprise data replication requirements.
• Install, configure, administer, and maintain IBM InfoSphere CDC replication environments across development, testing, and production environments.
• Configure and manage CDC source and target databases, replication subscriptions, tables, mappings, and data flows.
• Develop and maintain real-time and near-real-time data replication solutions using IBM InfoSphere CDC.
• Configure source-to-target replication for heterogeneous database environments and ensure accurate and reliable data synchronization.
• Monitor CDC replication processes, subscriptions, latency, throughput, logs, and system health to ensure stable production operations.
• Troubleshoot and resolve CDC replication failures, latency issues, subscription errors, data discrepancies, connection problems, and synchronization issues.
• Perform root-cause analysis for replication incidents and implement permanent corrective actions.
• Configure and manage CDC instances, datastores, subscriptions, tables, mappings, replication parameters, and transformation rules.
• Perform initial load, refresh, synchronization, and ongoing incremental change replication activities.
• Validate replicated data between source and target systems and investigate data consistency issues.
• Analyze CDC logs and diagnostic information to identify replication bottlenecks and operational issues.
• Perform CDC performance tuning by analyzing replication latency, transaction volumes, source/target performance, and network-related factors.
• Work closely with database administrators, application teams, infrastructure teams, and data engineering teams to resolve replication and integration issues.
• Support database migrations and modernization initiatives by implementing CDC-based replication and synchronization solutions.
• Develop operational procedures for CDC monitoring, incident management, restart/recovery, failover, and disaster recovery.
• Support high-availability and disaster-recovery requirements for CDC replication environments.
• Automate routine CDC administration, monitoring, health checks, and operational tasks using scripting where applicable.
• Participate in production deployments, release activities, environment upgrades, patching, and CDC configuration changes.
• Maintain technical documentation including CDC architecture, source/target mappings, replication configurations, operational procedures, and troubleshooting guides.
• Follow enterprise security, change management, audit, and production support processes.
• Participate in Agile/IT service management processes including incident, problem, change, and release management.

Required Technical Skills

• Strong hands-on experience with IBM InfoSphere Change Data Capture (CDC).
• Experience with IBM InfoSphere Data Replication / IBM Data Replication technologies.
• Strong understanding of CDC architecture, replication components, datastores, subscriptions, tables, mappings, and replication flows.
• Experience with initial load and incremental/continuous data replication.
• Strong database knowledge with one or more of:
  • Oracle
  • DB2
  • SQL Server
  • PostgreSQL
  • MySQL
• Strong SQL skills and understanding of database transactions, logs, indexes, and performance.
• Experience troubleshooting replication latency, failures, data mismatches, connectivity issues, and synchronization problems.
• Experience with CDC monitoring, logging, alerting, and performance tuning.
• Knowledge of Linux/Unix environments and shell scripting.
• Experience with enterprise production support and incident management.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and communication skills.

Preferred Skills

• Experience with IBM CDC on distributed and enterprise database environments.
• Experience supporting high-volume, low-latency replication environments.
• Knowledge of cloud migration and database modernization projects.
• Experience with automation using Shell, Python, or other scripting languages.
• Experience with monitoring and observability tools.
• Knowledge of Kafka or other streaming/data integration technologies.
• Experience with HA/DR, backup/recovery, and business continuity requirements.
