- You will supervise a subordinate work force consisting of (2) GS-2210-09, review and approve work plans to be accomplished by subordinates, establish priorities and schedules for completion of work.
- You will set broad objectives, monitor subordinate employees' performance in providing services, review accomplishments and take appropriate corrective action when deficiencies are noted.
- You will serve as the senior technical Information Technology Specialist for all customer service problems and the focal point for the installation of hardware and software and incident resolution.
- You will provide technical direction in developing, delivering, and maintaining USNO's IT systems and services. while providing a full range of IT hardware and software support to end users.
- You will plan, install, configure, troubleshoot, maintain customer hardware and software, research, evaluate, and provide feedback on problematic trends and patterns in customer support requirements.
- You will monitor network performance, provide ongoing support, resolution of problems and recovery of operating system malfunctions involving hardware components and software failures.
- You will conduct testing to ensure interoperability, efficiency, and compliance with existing standards, identify and track modifications required to enhance and maintain the installed hardware and software configuration of assigned systems.
- You will analyze and coordinate major facility hardware acquisitions and ensure compliance with applicable procurement directives and procedures.
- You will assist with the configuration management process to formally document and control the functional and physical characteristics of a system or product during its life cycle.
- You will be a member of the cyber security workforce and ensure compliance with all requisite cyber security doctrine, policy, and configuration guidance on all systems.

- This is a Cyberspace Workforce position, work role code 411-IT SPECIALIST, proficiency level ADVANCED the incumbent is required to obtain and maintain qualifications in DoDM 8140.03 Cyber Workforce Qualification and Department of Navy policies.
- This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
- You will be required to obtain and maintain a U.S. Passport.
- This position is subject to work an uncommon tour, including nights, weekends, and holidays to meet mission requirements. Overtime or night differential pay and/or unusual duty hours may be required.
QualificationsI have one year of information technology related experience in the federal service or private or public sector demonstrating the following four competencies, as defined:
- Attention to Detail - Is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail.
- Customer Service - Works with clients and customers (that is, any individuals who use or receive the services or products that your work unit produces, including the general public, individuals who work in the agency, other agencies, or organizations outside the Government) to assess their needs, provide information or assistance, resolve their problems, or satisfy their expectations; knows about available products and services; is committed to providing quality products and services.
- Oral Communication - Expresses information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and responds appropriately.
- Problem Solving - Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations.
In addition to my experience demonstrating the four competencies above,your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-12 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:
- Experience in skill in applying advanced principles and practices of Information Technology with extensive knowledge of customer support.
- Experience supporting the customer throughout the planning and integration of complex Information Technology in an operational environment in such disciplines as scientific data acquisition, data processing, database relationships, data management, networks, communications, satellite data ingest and processing, and IT maintenance.
- Experience managing and directing technical activities, evaluating and resolving technical issues, developing and interpreting policies, and coordinating personnel and budgetary resources. This knowledge and these skills are required in order to direct the Command's IT programs, projects, initiatives, and systems and align the organization's technology acquisition/deployment strategy with its business strategy.
- Experience applying management practices in accordance with DON, DOD, and Federal guidelines for CIO competencies as derived from Clinger - Cohen Act of 1996. This knowledge is required to ensure compliance in the acquisition, planning and management of technology for the department to be treated as a capital investment.
- Experience directing the activities of large groups of computer scientists and specialists to plan, design, integrate and implement large and complex computer systems, including support systems, software and integrated interfaces. Communicates expert technical advice, guidance, and recommendations to management, technical specialist, and non-technical personnel.
