Java Technical Lead - Commercial Banking IT

13 Week Contract to Hire

Pay: W2 Only

Position Summary

We are seeking a highly experienced and results-driven Java Technical Lead to join a Commercial Banking IT organization. This role is ideal for a hands-on engineering leader who thrives in fast-paced enterprise environments and is passionate about building scalable, secure, and high-performance applications that support mission-critical banking operations.

The ideal candidate brings strong analytical and critical-thinking skills to solve complex technical challenges and drive sound architectural decisions. This position plays a key role in application modernization, enterprise system integration, and maintaining compliance with regulatory and security standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Analyze, design, and develop systems based on user and business requirements
• Lead the design and implementation of enterprise applications using Java, Spring Boot, RESTful APIs, and SQL
• Provide advanced technical expertise to resolve complex software and system issues
• Guide development teams by providing technical direction and ensuring high-quality delivery across medium to large-scale initiatives
• Collaborate with cross-functional technology and business partners to deliver effective solutions
• Modernize legacy platforms and integrate applications with enterprise systems
• Ensure adherence to security, regulatory, and compliance standards
• Provide production support as needed, ensuring system stability, timely issue resolution, and continuous improvement
• Mentor and coach junior developers, contributing to team skill development and technical excellence
• Stay current with emerging technologies, industry trends, and modern engineering best practices
• Perform additional duties as assigned

Requirements

Basic Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
• 6+ years of related experience (or an additional 4 years of relevant work experience in lieu of a degree)
• Hands-on experience with:
• Java and Spring Boot (API development)
• SQL (Enterprise Edition)
• Cloud platforms such as Google Cloud Platform, AWS, or Azure

Preferred Qualifications

• 8+ years of related professional experience
• Hands-on experience with Google Cloud Platform (Google Cloud Platform) Enterprise Edition
• Experience working in multi-platform and enterprise environments
• Ability to balance both application development and production support responsibilities
• Experience supporting initiatives aligned with business or commercial segments
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Strong interpersonal skills with a customer-focused mindset
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools
