About the RoleWe are seeking a
Senior Data Modeler to serve as the
Enterprise Common Domain Model (CDM) Owner for capital markets. In this role, you will define and govern canonical data models that enable consistency and interoperability across trading, risk, finance, operations, regulatory reporting, and analytics platforms.
You will work at the intersection of
data modeling, capital markets domain expertise, and enterprise governance, driving standardized business semantics across a complex, cross-asset ecosystem.
What You'll Do1. Own the Enterprise CDM Strategy- Define and drive the roadmap for a cross-asset Common Domain Model.
- Establish canonical modeling principles focused on interoperability, auditability, and platform independence.
- Maintain consistent domain decomposition and alignment across business lines.
2. Design Canonical Data Models- Develop and maintain conceptual and logical models across:
- Financial products (rates, credit, FX, equities, securitized products)
- Trades, positions, lifecycle events, and cashflows
- Parties, legal entities, accounts, agreements, and reference data
- Standardize identifiers (e.g., trade IDs, party IDs) for reconciliation and integration.
- Support both event-driven and state-based lifecycle modeling.
3. Lead Governance and Controls- Establish and manage CDM governance processes, including approval workflows and design authority.
- Define and enforce modeling standards (naming, relationships, constraints).
- Ensure complete metadata, lineage, and audit-ready documentation.
- Manage schema versioning, backward compatibility, and release processes.
4. Enable Enterprise Adoption- Create onboarding frameworks, mapping templates, and transformation patterns.
- Partner with engineering and architecture teams to ensure consistent implementation.
- Lead design reviews to prevent duplication and conflicting data definitions.
5. Support AI/ML and Advanced Analytics- Design AI-ready datasets and semantic layers for analytics and LLM use cases.
- Enable structured modeling of unstructured data (e.g., agreements, confirmations).
- Support model governance requirements like reproducibility, explainability, and traceability.
6. Stakeholder Engagement- Collaborate with Trading, Risk, Operations, Finance, Regulatory Reporting, and Engineering teams.
- Facilitate alignment on shared definitions and resolve semantic conflicts.
- Provide strategic guidance to senior leadership on data modeling solutions.
Minimum Qualifications- Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
- 7+ years of experience in data modeling, engineering, or related fields.
- 5+ years of experience in capital markets or investment banking environments.
- Experience designing and implementing enterprise or canonical data models across multiple systems.
- Strong knowledge of trade lifecycle, financial products, and post-trade processing.
Preferred Qualifications- Experience with ISDA CDM and alignment of internal models to industry standards.
- Familiarity with FINOS ecosystem practices and open-source data model collaboration.
- Experience integrating canonical models into:
- Event-driven architectures (streaming)
- Data lakes/warehouses
- APIs and messaging systems
- Exposure to AI/ML data enablement (semantic layers, training datasets).
- Strong understanding of regulatory and risk data requirements.
