About the Role

We are seeking a Business Data Analyst - Risk Data Services to support enterprise data onboarding, data governance, and risk data control processes. This role focuses on ensuring data accuracy, compliance, and governance across the data lifecycle. It is not a software engineering, database administration, or advanced analytics role.

The analyst will serve as a key liaison between business, risk, technology, and data platform teams-ensuring data requirements are clearly defined, data flows are understood end-to-end, and data controls are functioning as intended.
Work Arrangement
  • Hybrid schedule: 3 days per week onsite
  • Strong potential for contract extension
  • Possible conversion to full-time employment
Key Responsibilities
Risk Data Services & Data Onboarding
  • Support enterprise Risk Data Services (RDS) solutions, including onboarding of new data sources, metadata, and tenants
  • Partner with stakeholders to intake, define, and validate onboarding requests before data moves through pipelines
  • Ensure stakeholder expectations and data requirements are clearly defined and met
  • Support both manual and automated data onboarding processes
Data Quality & Data Controls
  • Execute and monitor data control framework activities (primarily customer-level Level 1-2 controls)
  • Ensure data quality, completeness, and accuracy checks are in place
  • Perform root cause analysis for data defects and support remediation efforts
  • Validate data processing aligns with governance standards and regulatory requirements
Metadata & Platform Support
  • Partner with metadata and data simulation teams to ensure data is processed correctly
  • Validate alignment between source-to-target definitions
  • Document end-to-end data flows and dependencies
  • Support tenant alignment and metadata consistency across platforms
Cross-Functional Collaboration
  • Act as a bridge between business and technology teams
  • Collaborate with engineering, risk, compliance, and data platform stakeholders
  • Support knowledge sharing, cross-training, and backup coverage initiatives
Reporting & Analysis
  • Create and maintain dashboards and reports using Power BI
  • Support internal workflows and light process automation using Power Apps
  • Read, write, and interpret moderate-complexity SQL queries for data validation
  • Use Excel for reconciliation, analysis, and data validation
Continuous Improvement
  • Identify opportunities to improve efficiency through automation and process optimization
  • Contribute ideas related to AI/Copilot-enabled solutions (preferred, not required)
Required Qualifications
  • 4+ years of experience in software engineering or equivalent demonstrated experience
  • 5+ years of experience in data analysis, data operations, risk data, or related roles
  • Strong understanding of:
    • Data structures and data flows
    • Risk management and regulatory concepts
    • Data governance and data control frameworks
Technical Skills
  • SQL: Ability to write, read, and validate moderate-complexity queries
  • Power BI: Dashboard development and data visualization
  • Power Apps: Light workflow and internal application support
  • Excel: Advanced analysis, reconciliation, and formulas
  • Familiarity with metadata, data onboarding, and data quality tools (preferred)
Preferred Experience
  • Financial services industry experience
  • Experience working in regulated environments
  • Knowledge of risk-driven and regulatory data control processes
Soft Skills & Competencies
  • Strong analytical and root cause analysis skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication
  • Ability to bring clarity to ambiguous requirements
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Comfortable managing multiple stakeholders and priorities
  • Confident challenging incomplete or unclear data requests
This Role Is Not
  • Not a database administrator position
  • Not a heavy software engineering or coding role
  • Not advanced analytics or complex data modeling
