Location: Charlotte, NC (Hybrid - 3 days per week in office)
Start Date: ASAP
Contract Length: 12 months (strong potential for extension and possible conversion to full-time)
Work Authorization: Open to eligible contingent workers
Pay Rate: Competitive (candidates within market-aligned rates strongly preferred)
Job Overview

The Business Data Analyst - Risk Data Services supports enterprise Risk Data Services by ensuring accurate, compliant, and well-governed data onboarding and control processes. This role focuses on data lifecycle oversight, risk and regulatory awareness, metadata onboarding, and data quality controls rather than heavy engineering or database administration.

The analyst acts as a key liaison between business, technology, and data teams-owning outcomes, coordinating cross-functionally, and ensuring data flows and controls operate as designed within established governance frameworks.
Key Responsibilities
Risk Data Services & Data Onboarding
  • Support Risk Data Services (RDS) solutions, including onboarding new data sources, metadata, and tenants
  • Partner with stakeholders to intake, refine, validate, and manage onboarding requests
  • Ensure data onboarding aligns with governance, risk, and compliance standards
  • Support both manual and automated onboarding processes
Data Controls & Data Quality
  • Execute and monitor data control framework activities (primarily customer-level Level 1-2 controls)
  • Ensure data quality, completeness, accuracy, and timeliness
  • Perform root cause analysis for data issues and support remediation efforts
  • Verify data is processed according to defined standards and governance rules
Metadata & Platform Support
  • Collaborate with metadata and data simulation teams to ensure data is:
    • Correctly processed on platforms
    • Aligned with source-to-target definitions
  • Document end-to-end data flows, dependencies, and ownership
  • Support tenant alignment and metadata consistency across platforms
Cross-Functional Collaboration
  • Serve as a bridge between business and technology teams
  • Collaborate with risk, compliance, technology, and data platform partners
  • Support cross-training initiatives and shared understanding of services and dependencies
  • Assist with resource coverage and operational continuity as needed
Reporting & Analytics
  • Build and maintain dashboards and reports using Power BI
  • Support internal workflow improvements using Power Apps
  • Use SQL to validate, reconcile, and analyze data (moderate complexity)
  • Perform analysis and reconciliation using Excel
Continuous Improvement
  • Identify opportunities to improve efficiency through automation or process enhancements
  • Contribute ideas related to AI or Copilot-enabled solutions (nice to have, not required)
Required Qualifications
  • 5+ years of experience in data analysis, data operations, risk data, or a related field
  • 4+ years of experience in Software Engineering or equivalent experience through work, consulting, education, training, or military service
  • Strong understanding of:
    • Data structures and end-to-end data flows
    • Risk management and regulatory concepts
    • Data governance and data control frameworks
Technical Skills
  • SQL: Ability to read, write, and validate moderately complex queries
  • Power BI: Dashboard development and data visualization
  • Power Apps: Support for lightweight workflow applications
  • Excel: Advanced formulas, reconciliation, and analysis
  • Familiarity with metadata management, data onboarding, or data quality tools preferred
Preferred Experience
  • Financial services or similarly regulated environments
  • Experience supporting risk, compliance, or governance-driven data processes

What This Role Is Not
  • Not a Database Administrator (DBA) role
  • Not a heavy engineering or advanced analytics role
  • Not focused on deep data modeling or complex coding
