Location: Charlotte, NC (Hybrid - 3 days/week onsite at 300 S Brevard St)
Contract Duration: 12 months (strong potential for extension; possible conversion to full-time)
Start Date: ASAP
Work Authorization: Must be eligible to work in the U.S.

Role Overview

The Business Data Analyst - Risk Data Services supports enterprise-wide Risk Data Services (RDS) by enabling compliant, accurate, and well-governed data onboarding and data control processes. This role focuses on data lifecycle oversight, metadata onboarding, regulatory awareness, and data quality controls.

The analyst serves as a key liaison between business, technology, and data teams, ensuring onboarding requests are clearly defined, data flows are understood end-to-end, and governance controls operate as intended. This position requires strong ownership, accountability, and cross-functional coordination.

This is not a deep engineering or database administration role.
Key Responsibilities
Risk Data Services & Data Onboarding
  • Support Risk Data Services (RDS) solutions, including onboarding new data sources, metadata, and tenants
  • Partner with stakeholders to intake, refine, and validate onboarding requests prior to data movement
  • Ensure stakeholder expectations are clearly documented and met throughout the onboarding lifecycle
  • Support both manual and automated onboarding processes
Data Controls & Data Quality
  • Execute and monitor customer-level Level 1-2 data controls within the data control framework
  • Ensure data completeness, accuracy, and quality checks are properly implemented
  • Perform root cause analysis for data issues and collaborate with partners on remediation
  • Validate that data is processed according to defined rules, standards, and governance requirements
Metadata & Platform Support
  • Collaborate with metadata and data simulation teams to ensure requested data is:
    • Correctly processed on the platform
    • Aligned with approved source-to-target mappings
  • Document end-to-end data flows, dependencies, and tenant alignment
  • Support metadata consistency across platforms
Cross-Functional Collaboration
  • Act as a bridge between business and technology teams, translating technical concepts into business context
  • Partner with data platform, risk, compliance, and technology teams
  • Support cross-training initiatives to improve understanding of services and dependencies
  • Assist with coverage and backfill efforts as needed
Reporting & Light Development
  • Develop and maintain dashboards and reports using Power BI
  • Support internal workflows using Power Apps
  • Read, write, and interpret moderate-complexity SQL for validation and analysis
  • Perform analysis, reconciliation, and data validation using Excel
Continuous Improvement
  • Identify opportunities to improve efficiency through automation, AI awareness, or Copilot-based solutions
  • Recommend process improvements to reduce manual effort and enhance operational effectiveness
Required Qualifications
  • 4+ years of software engineering experience or equivalent experience demonstrated through work, consulting, military service, education, or training
  • 5+ years of experience in data analysis, data operations, risk data, or a related discipline
  • Strong understanding of:
    • Data structures and end-to-end data flows
    • Risk management and regulatory concepts
    • Data governance and data control frameworks
Preferred Qualifications
  • Financial services industry experience
  • Experience working in regulated environments (risk, compliance, data governance)
  • Familiarity with metadata management, data onboarding, or data quality tools
Technical Skills
  • SQL: Read, write, and validate moderate-complexity queries
  • Power BI: Dashboard creation and data visualization
  • Power Apps: Support for lightweight workflow applications
  • Excel: Advanced formulas, reconciliation, and analysis
Soft Skills & Competencies
  • Strong problem-solving and root cause analysis skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication
  • Ability to drive clarity in ambiguous environments
  • Highly organized with strong attention to detail
  • Collaborative mindset with confidence to challenge unclear or incomplete requirements

What This Role Is Not
  • Not a Database Administrator (DBA) role
  • Not a heavy engineering or advanced analytics role
  • Not focused on complex data modeling or deep coding
