Summary

Junior AI Engineer

Hybrid Role

Compensation: $34
ABOUT THE ROLE

Join our client as a Junior AI Engineer and gain hands-on experience building the observability and automation layers that keep our distributed systems running at scale. In this early-career role, you'll write real code that runs in production, not just tutorials or toy projects. You'll work alongside senior engineers and Agile squads, developing instrumentation tooling, alerting pipelines, and automation scripts that directly reduce production incidents. This is a unique opportunity to learn by doing, receive mentorship from experienced engineers, and build a strong foundation in both software engineering and cloud operations. We expect you to bring curiosity, a willingness to ask questions, and an eagerness to leverage AI tools to accelerate your learning and productivity.
WHAT YOU'LL DO

  • Develop and maintain observability and automation tools for distributed systems, ensuring reliability and scalability.
  • Collaborate with senior engineers and Agile squads to ship instrumentation tooling, alerting pipelines, and automation that reduce production incidents.
  • Work on AI remediation platforms, agents, and orchestrations to improve system resilience.
  • Contribute to both front-end and back-end systems, gaining exposure to Node.js, Python, and/or Go codebases.
  • Build and enhance logging, monitoring, and alerting solutions across real production services.
  • Create dashboards and KPI tracking systems to surface system health to engineering and business teams.
  • Develop automation scripts that replace manual steps in incident response and operational runbooks.
  • Participate in root cause analysis (RCA) investigations to understand and prevent system failures.
  • Author and maintain technical documentation and runbooks that are actively used by other engineers.
  • Support validation and testing of infrastructure and application changes before they are deployed to production.
  • Actively use AI tooling to accelerate learning, debugging, and development processes.
WHAT YOU BRING

  • Working knowledge of at least one of Node.js, Python, or Go (coursework, personal projects, internships, or bootcamp experience accepted).
  • Comfort working in a terminal and with Git version control.
  • Genuine curiosity about how software behaves in production environments, not just whether it compiles.
  • Willingness to learn cloud fundamentals (AWS) and DevOps practices on the job.
  • Strong communication skills, including the ability to ask for help clearly and explain your problem-solving approaches.
  • Actively use AI tooling to accelerate learning, debugging, and productivity.
  • Nice to have: Exposure to monitoring tools such as Datadog, Splunk, Dynatrace, or similar.
  • Nice to have: Basic AWS or cloud experience.
  • Nice to have: Familiarity with CI/CD concepts.
  • Nice to have: Experience reading or writing infrastructure-as-code (Terraform, CloudFormation).
WHAT'S IN IT FOR YOU

  • Mentorship from senior engineers who are passionate about your development and growth.
  • Opportunities to work on systems at real scale and make a tangible impact by reducing incidents for real customers.
  • Hands-on experience with production systems, cloud operations, and modern DevOps practices.
  • A collaborative, learning-focused environment where curiosity and initiative are valued.
  • Flexible hybrid work arrangements.
