Veterans Affairs ESOM contract.
About OTG: The Operations Triage Group (OTG) provides expert engineering and data science support to VA OIT Senior Leadership (CIO, PDAS, SES) for the 100 most critical VA systems (C-100). We deliver strategic intelligence through major incident triage, daily executive briefings, and operational insights that directly impact Veterans' access to healthcare and benefits.
Position Overview: The Application and System Analyst, Senior serves as the primary assistant to the Director of the Operations Triage Group and associated teams. This is an executive (SES) administrative assistant role who interacts with SES leadership throughout OIT and the VA on behalf of the Director and the Operation Triage Group (OTG). Future organizational changes will expand this to include other related ITIL areas of practice under the OTG Director.
Working closely with the Director, team FTEs, and contract leadership you will be responsible for coordinating meetings, triaging and organizing priorities, setting schedules, assisting with email and calendar management for the Director, and ensuring timeliness of critical deliverables.
The Application and System Analyst, Senior is also responsible for coordinating, compiling, and facilitating monthly CIO Operational Status (OpStat) meetings as well as additional Special Topic OpStat meetings to allow SES leadership to deep dive into pressing technical issues impairing the VA's 100 most Critical IT services.
This is a hands-on role in a fast paced and quickly changing environment. Successful candidates must be able to react quickly, adjust priorities rapidly, and track several competing workstreams across several areas very effectively.
This position requires expert verbal and written executive communication skills.
Location: This position can be performed remotely within the United States and will support Eastern Time working hours.
Compensation Range: The salary for this position is between $90-100K/annually. Factors affecting pay within this range may include geography/market, skills, education, experience, and other qualifications of the successful candidate.
ResponsibilitiesAdministrative Assistance: - Coordinate, on behalf of the Director, various meetings, events, presentations, and briefing with OIT and other VA senior and SES leadership.
- Assist with the daily management and prioritization of emails, meetings, schedules, and priorities for the Director.
- Participate as an observer on behalf of the Director in multiple meetings and venues.
- Ensure key notes on priorities, blockers, challenges, risks, successes, etc. are captured and communicated with the Director
Recurring CIO Level Meetings: - Primary lead for coordinating, facilitating, and conducting monthly CIO operational meetings.
- Work with system owners, OTG resources, system technical SMEs, and others to collect slides and resource materials for regular CIO Operational Status (OpStat) meetings.
- Build and review the final presentation materials and ensure all stakeholders informed and ready for presentation.
Success and Priority Tracking: - Coordinate with OTG (and other team) Program Manager to ensure priorities are aligned between OTG Director and functional teams.
- Assist in the collection and tracking of OTG (and other team) accomplishments throughout the year, including tracking of awards, notable mentions, success stories, etc.
QualificationsEducation & Experience: - Bachelor's degree or higher in Engineering, mathematics, or business administration\
- 8+ years professional experience
Technical Expertise: - Strong project coordination and facilitation experience.
- Ability to meet with senior level clients to determine needs, challenges, and desired outcomes.
- Able to track multiple coordinated workstreams across multiple teams.
- Proficiency with modern project management tools and methodologies.
Communication & Collaboration Skills: - Ability to explain technical data concepts to non-technical stakeholders
- Strong documentation skills for technical specifications, data flows, and integration patterns
- Collaborative approach to working with cross-functional teams OTG (SRE, Data Science, Analytics), Problem Management, and Change Management.
- Experience supporting executive communications with data-driven insights

Preferred Qualifications: - Federal government experience, particularly within VA or Department of Defense
- Knowledge of federal data standards and compliance frameworks
- Background experience in reliability engineering, SRE practices, IT operations, or ITIL strongly prefered
- Experience working in distributed, remote teams
