Director of Software Engineering to lead and scale a high-performing development organization supporting a complex, evolving product portfolio.
This role provides
strategic direction and hands-on leadership across software development and DevOps practices, ensuring strong alignment between engineering capabilities and business objectives. You will drive improvements in
delivery velocity, software quality, and operational efficiency, while building a culture rooted in collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement.
This leader will operate across the
full product lifecycle-from planning and development through production support-while defining long-term strategies to solve critical business and technology challenges.
Key Responsibilities- Lead planning, execution, and delivery of software releases, ensuring alignment with business priorities
- Oversee development teams, monitoring performance and driving continuous improvement
- Manage budgets, timelines, risks, and resource allocation across multiple initiatives
- Partner with senior leadership to define strategy, roadmap, and resource planning
- Ensure all deliverables are completed on time, within budget, and to high quality standards
- Establish and optimize engineering processes, workflows, and DevOps practices
- Drive visibility into requirements, priorities, and delivery progress across stakeholders
- Identify and eliminate inefficiencies across development, testing, and deployment pipelines
- Provide executive-level reporting on project health, risks, and outcomes
Agile & DevOps Leadership- Champion and scale Agile (Scrum) practices across multiple teams
- Coach teams, Scrum Masters, and leaders to ensure consistent Agile execution
- Ensure teams maintain a well-defined, prioritized product backlog aligned to business needs
- Foster strong collaboration between Development, QA/QC, and Operations teams
- Drive adoption of DevOps methodologies, improving deployment frequency and reliability
- Support release management, user acceptance testing, and production deployments
People Leadership & Team Development- Lead, mentor, and develop engineering managers, Scrum Masters, and technical teams
- Oversee hiring, performance management, promotions, and career development planning
- Build a culture of accountability, ownership, and continuous learning
- Provide ongoing coaching and feedback to maximize team performance
- Ensure teams have the tools and resources needed to be successful
Technical Environment- Java-based development environment
- Experience with web services and REST APIs
- Relational databases such as PostgreSQL and Oracle
- Exposure to modern DevOps tools, CI/CD pipelines, and deployment practices
What You Bring- Strong leadership experience in software engineering organizations
- Proven ability to manage large-scale development efforts and releases
- Deep understanding of the software development lifecycle (SDLC)
- Experience implementing and leading Agile and DevOps transformations
- Strong problem-solving, organizational, and decision-making skills
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities
- Results-driven mindset with the ability to operate both strategically and tactically
Qualifications- 7+ years of experience delivering software products through full development lifecycle
- 7+ years of experience working with software testing, QA/QC processes, and release cycles
- 5+ years of leadership experience in a software development environment
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or related field
