Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced Oracle Insurance Policy Administration (OIPA) Engineer with deep expertise in annuity products, OIPA Rules Palette configuration, and cloud-based integration environments.

This role will support the RiverSource business, driving technical solution design, configuration, integration, and lifecycle management within Oracle OIPA. The ideal candidate will have strong annuity domain expertise and hands-on OIPA configuration experience across plan rules, product setup, activity configuration, and lifecycle modeling.

🔹 Core Technical Responsibilities

1️⃣ OIPA Configuration & Development

• Strong hands-on expertise in:

  • OIPA Rules Palette

  • Rules & Activity/Transaction configuration

  • Admin & Plan Rules

  • AS Tables

  • Plan/Product configuration

  • Segments & Elements

  • Security Roles

  • Single Policy Fixes

  • Policy Lifecycle Modeling

• Configure and maintain annuity product rules and workflows.

• Design and implement API integrations.

• Work with SQL, XML, and Java within OIPA framework.

• Create low-level design documents and engineering specifications.

2️⃣ Annuity Domain Expertise (Mandatory)

Strong knowledge of:

• Fixed Annuities

• Indexed Annuities

• Variable Annuities

• Registered Annuities

• Surrender charges

• Riders

• Premium allocation

• Contract value calculations

• Fees & charges

• Interest calculations

• Payout options

• Annuity lifecycle events

3️⃣ Engineering & Code Quality

• Develop high-quality code aligned with standards.

• Participate in peer code reviews.

• Write unit tests and resolve issues quickly.

• Support QA with test case identification and data preparation.

• Provide governance oversight on development practices.

4️⃣ Integration & Cloud

• Develop integrations using:

  • SQL (views, stored procedures, functions)

  • XML

  • REST APIs

• Experience with AWS (preferred).

• Support CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, Ansible).

• Use Git and modern DevOps tools.

• Experience with container technologies (Docker, EKS, ECS) is a plus.

5️⃣ Production Support & Optimization

• Perform root cause analysis for production issues.

• Improve system performance, reliability, and resource consumption.

• Track and remediate security gaps.

• Ensure application stability across environments.

6️⃣ Collaboration & Leadership

• Work closely with business analysts and stakeholders.

• Mentor junior developers.

• Participate in design walkthroughs.

• Translate business requirements into scalable technical designs.

• Work effectively with geographically dispersed teams.

🔹 Required Qualifications

• 5–7+ years of Oracle OIPA experience.

• 5–7 years of SQL and XML development.

• Strong hands-on OIPA Rules Palette expertise.

• Experience in Annuity products (Mandatory).

• 2–3 years experience in AWS or major cloud platform.

• Experience with CI/CD and automation tools.

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

• Full-stack development experience.

• UNIX/Linux shell scripting.

• AI / MLOps exposure.

• Strong enterprise integration experience.

• Experience translating complex business requirements into technical designs.
