Job Description: We are seeking a senior IT Project Manager with PMP certification to lead a complex, multi-team IT initiative. You will manage through all project phases, align with governance, and ensure on-time, on-budget delivery. This role requires hands-on leadership, strong communication with technical and business stakeholders, and the ability to coordinate with vendors and procurement offices. You will maintain budgets, schedules, risks, and deliverables, drive requirements and test artifacts, and support end-user training.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead cross-functional IT project teams to deliver complex initiatives on schedule and within budget
- Develop and maintain project plans, milestones, risk registers, and status reports; communicate status to stakeholders
- Coordinate with IT management, business groups, vendors, and procurement; ensure governance compliance
- Define and manage requirements, use cases, test objectives, and test plans/cases
- Track progress with metrics and drive issue resolution, quality, and training activities
Required Qualifications:
- Active PMP certification from PMI or PM certification from VITA (no other certifications qualify)
- 15+ years of experience managing large projects; 10+ years of direct project management experience in complex IT environments
- Deep knowledge of Agile and Waterfall methodologies; proficient in Microsoft Project; strong Office Suite and SharePoint skills
- Experience with data modeling, interface management tools, and creating custom reports
- Ability to work onsite 2-3 days per week
Nice to Have:
- Agile Scrum Master certification
- Prior experience with VDOT ITD or similar large public sector IT programs
