Role Overview
This position supports the LNG Engineering & Technical Services group by providing design review, specification development, and overall support for plant electrical, instrumentation, and controls projects. The role involves a high level of knowledge of plant systems, including electrical switchgear, motor control centers, VFDs, transmitters, and PLC/DCS systems. The engineer will guide the selection and integration of new equipment, manage projects within their discipline, and ensure all work complies with applicable codes and standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Participate in project meetings, serving as the subject matter expert for instrumentation, controls, and electrical systems.
- Assist project managers in the planning, execution, engineering, and management of capital projects.
- Ensure all work is performed in accordance with NFPA 59A, 70E, 40 CFR 193, Article 500 of the NEC, and other applicable standards.
- Support the development of project budgets, cost estimates, and bid specifications.
- Manage and execute projects related to low and medium voltage power systems, controls systems, security systems, and instrumentation.
- Respond to submittals and RFIs in a timely manner.
- Support the development of new process and equipment procedures.
- Identify and document lessons learned for future projects.
- Provide on-site construction support, monitoring quality and providing feedback.
- Travel to various sites within Massachusetts and one site in Connecticut as needed.
Required Qualifications
Education: An Associate's degree or higher is required.
Experience: 8-10 years of experience on an engineering, maintenance, technology, or construction project team supporting power, manufacturing, or process plant construction and maintenance.
Technical Skills:- Strong understanding of AC and DC power, hazardous area classifications, transformers, switchgear, motor control centers, VFDs, motors, UPS systems, instrumentation, and fiber optics.
- Ability to interpret drawings and other technical documents.
- Capability to perform basic calculations to confirm the sizing of equipment and conductors.
- Proficiency with MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Must have a valid driver's license and a personal vehicle for travel between sites.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with LNG is a significant plus.
Compensation & Benefits
The anticipated pay range for this position is $55.00/hr to $60.00/hr. Please note that the final pay rate will be determined by a variety of factors, including the candidate's experience and qualifications.
