Role Overview
As a Data Center Technician, you will be a primary resolver for the support team, skilled in troubleshooting and resolving complex hardware infrastructure issues. This role requires basic to intermediate system administration skills and the ability to work autonomously to resolve server issues. You will support team members, share knowledge of technologies, and work proficiently within a team environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex hardware infrastructure issues.
- Perform server hardware installation and maintenance.
- Execute hardware replacements and repairs.
- Manage work and priorities through a ticketing system.
- Support and share knowledge of data center technologies with team members.
- Follow detailed directions and adhere to all operational protocols.
- Perform basic network troubleshooting.
Required Qualifications
Education: A high school diploma or equivalent is required. An Associate's degree in an IT-related field or equivalent professional or military experience is also considered.
Experience: This role requires 2-3 years of experience in data center operations or a related technical field, including 2+ years of experience with server hardware and at least 1 year of experience with Linux operating systems. Experience managing work through a ticketing system is necessary.
Technical Skills: Candidates must have basic networking knowledge, an understanding of TCP/IP, and familiarity with Linux/Unix command lines. An understanding of storage devices, cooling systems, and power distribution is also required.
Preferred Qualifications
- Associate's degree in IT or a related field.
- Industry certifications such as CompTIA A+, Network+, Security+, or Certified Network Defender (CND).
- More than 2 years of direct data center experience.
Work Environment
This position operates in a secure data center environment. The role requires the ability to lift up to 50 pounds, stand or walk for extended periods, climb ladders, and work at heights. Technicians must be comfortable working in confined spaces and be able to adapt to varying environmental conditions, including temperature fluctuations and the presence of airborne particles. Adherence to security protocols, including daily metal detection screening, is mandatory. Certain working conditions are inherent to the role and essential to operations.
Compensation & Benefits
The pay rate for this position is between $25.00 and $30.00 per hour. A comprehensive benefits package is available to eligible employees.
