Senior Functional Safety Engineer (Robotics & AI)- Mountain View, CA.(Onsite) Job Description:

Seeking a Senior Functional Safety Engineer to support advanced humanoid robotics systems integrating AI/ML (LLMs, CV, world models). Role focuses on subsystem-level safety analysis, risk assessment, and validation to ensure safe real-world deployment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform HARA, risk assessments, and safety analysis (ISO 13849, ISO 12100, ISO 10218)
  • Conduct PL/SIL calculations and implement Safety-by-Design
  • Apply SOTIF (ISO 21448) for AI/ML safety and edge-case validation
  • Develop SOPs, support lab safety, and perform RCA
  • Maintain hazard logs, safety case, and traceability

Required Qualification:

  • 5+ years in Functional Safety (Robotics/Automotive/Aerospace)
  • ISO 26262 Certified (Mandatory)
  • Strong experience with ISO 13849, ISO 10218, ISO 12100, SOTIF
  • Experience with robotic systems and basic AI/ML understanding

Preferred Qualifications:

  • T V Certification
  • UL 4600, STPA/STAMP knowledge
  • Experience with dynamic robots or BMS
