This individual will contribute to development and design of sequencing informatics methods and protocols for new and existing multi-omics platforms, including PacBio, Illumina, Olink, and Ultima. These efforts will be driven by the goal to maximize value from Rsamples and data.

Working closely with the Sequencing & Lab Operations and Production Informatics teams, this role will also assist the methods engagement with R technology partners to on-board new sequencing and informatics platforms and ensure they can meet the R unique scaling and analysis needs.

When & where:
  • Location: Tarrytown, NY
  • Work model/flexibility: 4 days onsite

Discover your role:
  • Lead the integration of state-of-the-art and novel methods to create multi-omics informatics best-practices that increase value from Rsamples by lowering data requirements and leveraging R unique data resources
  • Identify opportunities that combine multiple sequencing modalities (e.g., short-read, long-read, capture, genome, depth-based) to increase the actionability of Rsequencing deliverables
  • Inform development of novel sequencing informatics protocols to support multi-omics applications on existing and new sequencing platforms, including DNA-seq, RNA-seq, long-read sequencing, and proteomics
  • Support R joint development efforts with technology partners (e.g. NVIDIA, Google Brain) to improve base-calling, read mapping, variant calling and harmonization through bioinformatics R&D
  • Collaborate with R Genomics R&D, Engineering and Production teams to deploy novel methods into the R Enterprise Research environment as industry-quality software

This role requires:
  • Master's (PhD preferred) in Bioinformatics or equivalent
  • 0-3 years of experience in sequencing informatics methodology, including base calling, read mapping, and variant calling algorithms and software.
  • Experience with large-scale multi-omics data types, including DNA-seq (short and long read), RNA-seq, proteomics, methylation.
  • Expert fluency in state-of-the-art bioinformatic tools and standards.
  • Demonstrated engagement in the sequencing bioinformatics community.
  • Experience creating or adapting novel bioinformatic data structures and file formats to improve actionability.
