OverviewWe are seeking a Data Center Facilities Technician to support a secure government data center environment, ensuring the reliability, efficiency, and continuous operation of critical infrastructure systems. This role is part of a Facilities Management team responsible for maintaining electrical and mechanical systems that support mission-critical IT operations.
This is a hands-on position requiring strong troubleshooting skills, technical expertise, and the ability to operate in a high-availability environment supporting government programs.
Key Responsibilities- Troubleshoot electrical and mechanical systems throughout the facility to ensure continuous operations
- Install and support new electrical circuits for building infrastructure and IT systems
- Maintain and operate infrastructure systems including:
- Automatic Transfer Switches (ATS)
- Emergency generators
- Uninterruptible Power Systems (UPS)
- Chillers and cooling towers
- Sewer ejection systems
- Building Automation Systems (BAS)
- Design and install conduit runs to support electrical infrastructure upgrades
- Oversee vendor maintenance and installations to ensure work meets government standards, applicable codes, and project requirements
- Utilize ServiceNow or similar platforms to manage incident tickets, change requests, and workflow processes
- Interpret and follow diagrams, schematics, and technical documentation
- Identify and troubleshoot failures across mechanical, electrical, and automation systems
- Maintain documentation including maintenance records, purchase orders, and infrastructure diagrams
- Identify system deficiencies and recommend solutions to maintain data center stability and performance
- Collaborate with internal teams and external vendors to plan and implement infrastructure upgrades
- Provide 24/7 on-call support for emergency response situations
- Support general facilities operations including electrical, mechanical, plumbing, carpentry, and overall building maintenance
Required Qualifications- Associate's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Technology, Instrumentation, or equivalent vocational training in HVAC or a related field
- 2+ years of experience working with:
- Commercial electrical systems
- Mechanical/HVAC systems
- Building Automation Systems (BAS)
- Ability to respond to emergency call-ins within a defined timeframe
- Strong understanding of electrical, mechanical, plumbing, and HVAC systems
- Experience troubleshooting and repairing facility infrastructure systems
- Ability to analyze multiple systems simultaneously and quickly determine root cause during outages
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Experience managing projects, coordinating work efforts, and forecasting materials
- Self-motivated with strong problem-solving skills and mechanical aptitude
Clearance RequirementClearance: Candidates must be able to obtain and/or maintain a Secret Security Clearance as a condition or continuation of employment.
