ECS is seeking a Data Platform Engineer to work in our Fairfax, VA office.

Position Overview


ECS is seeking a Data Platform Engineer to support the operation and sustainment of enterprise data platforms used to support advanced analytics and AI/ML workflows. This role works closely with the Project Manager and Technical Lead to support platforms operating across IL5 and IL6 environments.

The Data Platform Engineer focuses on platform administration and operational support, serving as a technical bridge between data platform and data engineering teams.

This is a hybrid position with onsite support in Fairfax, VA and Springfield, VA approximately three days per week, with adjustments based on project needs.

Position Description

The Data Platform Engineer will primarily support a Databricks platform operating in an IL5 environment and will also provide limited support to an existing analytics platform operating in an IL6 environment. The role supports platform operations, integrations, and sustainment, enabling data engineers and data scientists to focus on data pipeline development and data preparation activities. Additionally, the engineer will support architecture and integration of labeling platforms and data ingestion pipelines, including secure data transfer and synchronization workflows using AWS-native services.

Responsibilities include:
  • Administering and operating a Databricks platform, including workspace configuration, cluster management, and job operations
  • Providing limited operational support to an analytics platform in an IL6 environment
  • Supporting platform monitoring, troubleshooting, and performance tuning
  • Assisting with interfaces between data platforms, labeling platforms, and internal systems
  • Supporting mechanisms for sharing curated datasets vendor environments
  • Assisting with DevSecOps and CI/CD activities supporting the platform
  • Supporting security and compliance requirements


Required Skills

  • U.S. Citizenship ; Active Secret security clearance with ability to obtain TS/SCI with CI Poly
  • Bachelor's Degree in a related field
  • Security+ certification or other IAT Level II certification
  • 5+ years of experience supporting cloud-based or analytics platforms
  • Hands-on experience administering Databricks workspaces (clusters, jobs, notebooks)
  • Familiarity with Apache Spark
  • Experience in Linux-based environments
  • Experience with AWS, including data transfer, storage, and secure data access patterns
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work across matrixed teams


Desired Skills

  • Experience supporting systems operating at IL5 and/or IL6
  • Familiarity with Palantir Foundry
  • Experience integrating or synchronizing data between platforms or environments
  • Python scripting or automation experience
