Summary

Position: Operations Software Engineer
Location: Remote
Duration: Long Term Contract

Position Overview:

  • The Operations Software Engineer is responsible for deploying, automating, maintaining, troubleshooting, and improving software and infrastructure hosted in cloud environments.
  • The role requires a hands-on approach to software engineering, environment automation, reliability engineering, management, and continuous improvement. The individual will work individually and as part of a team in an Agile development process, engage with customers to gather feedback on production system effectiveness, and will oversee the design and implementation of application builds, releases, deployments, and configuration activities.

Responsibilities:

  • Engineer, deploy, automate, monitor and maintain software systems, ensuring software and infrastructure operate efficiently and effectively.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve operational issues, improving system stability and performance.
  • Design, implement, and operate software builds, releases, deployment, and reliability solutions throughout the software and CI/CD lifecycle.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to gather requirements, prototype solutions, and architect complex systems.
  • Support test plan execution, perform quality reviews, and address operational issues.
  • Assist with the integration, troubleshooting, and testing of software changes.
  • Apply technical expertise to solve complex integration problems.
  • Participate in the full life cycle of software development and delivery, including requirements development, design, application development, unit testing, integration, system testing, deployment, and operation.
  • Work with cross-functional teams and provide leadership to implement, monitor, and maintain solutions.

Essential Functions:

  • Proactively manage production systems for reliability and customer satisfaction.
  • Lead or provide leadership to drive the resolution of complex problems.
  • Ensure software best practices are followed throughout the development process and SaaS delivery model.
  • Gather and report software metrics to support decision-making and continuous improvement.
  • Interact with program management, external suppliers, and customers.
  • Maintain strong communication and collaboration with internal and external stakeholders.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor s degree in a STEM field with a minimum of 3 years of software development experience, or a Master's degree with 2 years.
  • Experience with multi-level security and cybersecurity hardening in a regulated environment like healthcare.
  • Demonstrated experience in Python, Java, or other OOP languages.
  • Demonstrated experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC), Terraform preferred
  • Demonstrated experience working with relational databases, PostgreSQL preferred
  • Experience with Git version control and formal software testing.
  • Working knowledge of containers (Docker, Kubernetes), networking technologies, and cloud hosting, Azure Preferred.
  • Familiarity with configuration management tools and processes.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with Monitoring, Alerting, and Automated Recovery processes common to Site Reliability Engineering (SRE).
  • Experience with Azure Functions and Microsoft Entra ID.
  • Familiarity with Atlassian tools (Jira, Confluence) and Agile development processes.
  • Working knowledge of the Risk Management Framework (RMF) process.
  • This role requires strong problem-solving skills, technical expertise in software delivery, and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
