What We're Looking ForToyota's Automated Electronics & Evaluation Department is developing and evaluating next-generation Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) and Automated Driving Systems (ADS) that will help shape the future of mobility. We are looking for a highly skilled Senior Engineer who is passionate about software-based vehicle evaluation, data-driven decision making, and advancing automated driving technologies through innovative testing and validation approaches. This position reports to the Sr. Engineering Manager.
What You'll Be DoingSuccess in this role means transforming complex vehicle and software performance data into actionable insights that improve the safety, functionality, and customer acceptance of future ADS and ADAS technologies. You'll work closely with global stakeholders, suppliers, and engineering teams while leading evaluations that directly influence Toyota's next-generation mobility solutions.
- Lead software-level evaluation and validation activities for ADS and ADAS technologies, collaborating with internal stakeholders and Tier-1 suppliers to deliver high-quality performance outcomes.
- Execute Software-in-the-Loop (SIL) and Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) testing activities to assess and improve the performance of Toyota's latest automated driving and electronic systems.
- Configure, troubleshoot, and optimize test benches, vehicles, sensors, and data acquisition systems to support efficient, accurate testing.
- Develop and standardize evaluation methodologies, test cases, KPIs, and reporting processes that enable objective measurement of system performance and continuous improvement.
- Champion customer-focused innovation by translating vehicle performance data, customer feedback, competitive benchmarking, and emerging trends into recommendations that enhance customer experience.
- Lead evaluation planning, performance tracking, issue management, and stakeholder alignment activities to ensure successful project execution and business impact.
- Create compelling, data-driven analyses and visualizations that help technical and non-technical audiences make informed decisions.
- Develop software tools and automation solutions to improve efficiency across data collection, analysis, simulation, bench testing, and vehicle validation.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives by identifying opportunities to enhance system performance, testing effectiveness, and overall customer satisfaction.
- Build strong partnerships across Toyota's global engineering network while mentoring and developing less experienced engineers.
What You Bring- Bachelor's degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Robotics Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related technical discipline.
- 6+ years of experience working with ADS/ADAS sensors, controls, and vehicle applications, including camera, radar, sonar, and lidar technologies.
- 3+ years of experience developing and executing Software-in-the-Loop (SIL) and Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) evaluations for automotive software systems.
- 3+ years of experience creating software solutions or automation tools for engineering data analysis using Python, C++, MATLAB, or similar programming languages.
- Experience developing new evaluation methodologies, defining or refining key performance indicators, and creating standardized processes for emerging ADAS technologies.
- Experience with OBD/CAN diagnostic tools, vehicle instrumentation, sensors, and data acquisition systems to support testing and troubleshooting.
- Experience developing software in shared repositories such as Git or SVN and working in cloud-based development environments, including Azure DevOps and AWS.
- Experience with continuous integration tools such as Azure DevOps Pipelines or Jenkins.
- Experience working in collaborative global engineering environments, including partnerships with Toyota Motor Corporation and international engineering teams.
- Ability and willingness to travel domestically and internationally up to approximately 25%.
- Ability and willingness to support overtime activities when business needs require.
- A motor vehicle record acceptable by company standards is required for this position.
Added Bonus If You Have- Master's degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Robotics Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related technical discipline.
- Experience evaluating and tuning vehicle-level performance for advanced driver assistance or automated driving technologies.
- Experience supporting vehicle development activities at Toyota or a Toyota Tier-1 supplier.
- Experience using cloud platforms such as AWS or Azure to enable scalable, automated data analysis solutions.
- Experience integrating electronic hardware, vehicle systems, and advanced sensor technologies into automotive applications.
- Experience designing or supporting advanced automated driving technologies such as mapping, localization, path planning, or vehicle controls.
