Cloud Engineer
Location: Fort Worth, TX
Position Overview
The Cloud Engineer is responsible for the design, installation, configuration, operation, and administration of a highly available hybrid cloud environment. Working within an agile shared services team, this role enables stable infrastructure for applications and supports repeatable processes through automation of build, deployment, and proactive monitoring.
The ideal candidate understands emerging trends in hybrid cloud technologies and can practically apply solutions to meet business needs. This role drives cloud technology and operations while also requiring knowledge of on-premise data center resources. The Cloud Engineer must be able to make recommendations based on strong technical expertise, assist project teams as needed, and provide third-tier support for issue resolution.
This role requires subject matter expertise in two or more of the following areas within an Azure or AWS environment:
Cloud Computing, Cloud Storage, Virtual Networks, Automation/Infrastructure as Code, Secure Networking, and DevSecOps.
Key Responsibilities
Establish, monitor, and maintain Azure cloud environments, systems hardware, operating systems, and related network and security
infrastructure to ensure reliable operations
Monitor Azure maintenance and outages, assess impact, and develop mitigation strategies
Collaborate with developers and scrum teams on compute resource expansion and new feature deployments
Ensure accurate network and system capacity projections to prevent service degradation
Build and automate cloud infrastructure using current methods, templates, and automation toolsets
Optimize network infrastructure for IaaS, SaaS, PaaS, and other cloud applications
Produce and maintain documentation for installation, configuration, operation, and maintenance of cloud and on-premise infrastructure
Research connectivity, performance, and security issues to determine root cause and implement solutions
Participate in the design and implementation of hybrid cloud architectural roadmaps
Design technical infrastructure and cloud processes; integrate solutions into existing environments
Consult on development projects and assist with solution deployments
Coordinate with service providers, vendors, and internal teams to resolve infrastructure-related issues
Participate in on-call rotation and provide support outside normal working hours as needed
Education
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field (required)
Required Experience
5+ years of progressive experience in computing or network infrastructure
3+ years of experience in a cloud environment, preferably Azure, in a cloud network engineer, administrator, or DevOps role
Demonstrated experience building and operating cloud infrastructure
Experience with Infrastructure-as-Code and Configuration-as-Code
Experience managing on-premise infrastructure and cloud-based IaaS and PaaS services (Azure), including virtual machines, virtual net
works, and automation tools
Experience with CI/CD platforms such as Jenkins, Puppet, Chef, Azure DevOps, or similar
Ability to deploy through automation and contribute to application architecture designs for Azure
Experience with infrastructure monitoring tools and DevOps processes
Experience with load balancing platforms

Microsoft Windows Server 2019/2016/2012

Cisco routing and switching platforms
Palo Alto or similar cloud-based firewall technologies

Ability to recognize, troubleshoot, and resolve system issues independently
