Job Overview:
We are seeking a highly skilled High Voltage / Power Electronics Test Engineer to support validation and reliability testing of advanced power electronics systems. The ideal candidate will play a critical role in designing and executing test strategies for electrical, thermal, and mechanical systems used in next-generation vehicle platforms.
Key Responsibilities:
• Design, build, instrument, and automate test setups for electrical, thermal, and mechanical validation
• Develop and execute design validation (DV) and reliability test plans based on identified failure modes
• Perform component-level, subsystem-level, and full system/vehicle-level testing
• Simulate real-world and accelerated environmental conditions (thermal, vibration, electrical stress, etc.)
• Collaborate with Design Engineers, Reliability Engineers, Material Scientists, Quality, and Service teams
• Work closely with test technicians to ensure successful execution of test plans
• Conduct failure analysis of power electronics assemblies and subassemblies to improve product design
• Interface with and simulate complex vehicular systems to validate hardware and firmware interactions
• Identify and execute experiments for new technologies and critical failure scenarios
• Develop innovative testing methods to enhance product validation and performance
• Document test results, analyze data, and provide actionable insights
Required Skills & Qualifications:
Core Technical Skills:
• Strong fundamentals in Analog and Digital Circuits
• Solid understanding of Power Electronics
• Experience with DC-DC / DC-AC converters
• Knowledge of High Voltage Circuits
• Experience with Motor Drive / Control Circuits
• Understanding of sensing circuits and microcontrollers
Test & Instrumentation:
• Hands-on experience with oscilloscopes, multimeters, DAQs, power supplies, and function generators
• Experience working with lab tools, hand tools, and power tools
• Ability to set up, troubleshoot, and automate test systems
Programming & Automation:
• Familiarity with object-oriented programming
• Experience with Python and/or MATLAB
• Knowledge of data analysis and visualization
Design Tools:
• Experience with EDA tools such as Altium, OrCAD, Cadence, or Eagle
• Basic knowledge of mechanical CAD tools such as SolidWorks or CATIA
Engineering Fundamentals:
• Understanding of statics, mechanics of materials, heat transfer, fluid mechanics
• Knowledge of measurement & instrumentation and linear circuits
Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience in automated test system development
• Exposure to automotive or EV systems
• Strong problem-solving and root cause analysis skills
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, cross-functional environment
