Job Description
What you''ll do
• Design, build, test, and maintain features across the full stack: Rails backend, MySQL data layer, web UI, and GraphQL/REST APIs.
• Own features end-to-end: requirements, implementation, automated tests, deployment support, and production follow-up.
• Integrate with internal systems and third-party platforms (SMS, email, identity, storage, analytics).
• Improve application performance, reliability, and security (webhook hardening, auth/session work, etc.).
• Work in a team that ships frequently via GitHub Actions to AWS Elastic Beanstalk, with Sidekiq workers and Lambda functions in the mix. Required experience
• 5+ years building production web applications across backend and frontend.
• Strong Ruby on Rails experience, including ActiveRecord, controllers/services/workers, background jobs, and migrations.
• Strong JavaScript experience building production web UIs and integrating with backend APIs.
• Solid SQL / MySQL skills: schema design, query optimization, indexing, and debugging slow queries.
• Experience building and consuming REST and GraphQL APIs.
• Familiarity with automated testing (unit, integration, and browser/feature tests).
• Experience with Redis and background job systems (Sidekiq or equivalent).
• AWS experience in at least some of: S3, SQS/SNS, Lambda, CloudWatch, Elastic Beanstalk (or similar PaaS deployment).
• Ability to analyze complex, cross-domain business problems and deliver pragmatic solutions.
• Strong understanding of OOP, service design, and maintainable architecture in a large codebase. Strongly preferred
• Experience upgrading or maintaining large legacy Rails apps (Rails 6/7 migrations, gem upgrades, deprecation cleanup).
• Experience with Auth0 or similar identity providers (MFA, SSO, session lifecycle).
• Experience with messaging platforms: Twilio, SendGrid, or telecom/SMS compliance (A2P/10DLC).
• Docker and GitHub Actions CI/CD.
• GraphQL in production (schema design, batching/loaders, API versioning/compatibility).
• ActiveStorage / file upload pipelines (image/video processing, public/private S3 URLs).
• Performance tuning in Rails (caching, queue design).
• Security-minded development (CSRF/session hardening, webhook validation).
• i18n/localization experience. Educational Qualifications:
· Required - Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Computer Engineering or closely related or equivalent.
· Preferred - Master’s degree in Management Information Systems (MIS), Computer Science, Big Data or Analytics or equivalent.
Travel:
· Open to travel based-up on the nature of the engagement.
