Summary

Basic Qualifications

Requires a Bachelor's degree in Engineering, or a related Science, Technology or Mathematics field. Also requires 2+ years of job-related experience, or a Master's degree and 6 months of job-related experience.

CLEARANCE REQUIREMENTS:: Department of Defense Secret security clearance is obtainable within a reasonable amount of time after hire. Applicants selected will be subject to a U.S. Government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Due to the nature of work performed within our facilities, U.S. citizenship is required.

Responsibilities for this Position

Job Summary:
The AI Solutions Engineer will partner with our multi-disciplinary engineering development teams (Systems, Mechanical, Electrical, Software) to identify and implement artificial intelligence solutions. This role focuses on leveraging internal Large Language Models (LLMs) and other AI tools to accelerate the development lifecycle, enhance product quality, and automate mundane tasks. The ideal candidate is a creative problem-solver passionate about applying cutting-edge AI to real-world engineering challenges.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate with engineering teams to understand their workflows, identify pain points, and pinpoint opportunities for AI-driven process improvements.
  • Design, develop, and implement solutions using the company's existing LLM infrastructure to assist with tasks like code generation, documentation, data analysis, and requirements refinement.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert, providing training and support to engineers on how to effectively use new AI tools and methodologies.
  • Research, evaluate, and propose new AI/ML technologies and tools that could provide a competitive advantage.
  • Collaborate with existing and upcoming IT infrastructure and other stakeholders to resolve barriers to success.
  • Develop metrics to track the impact of AI implementations on development speed, quality, and team efficiency.

Basic Qualifications:
  • Very solid understanding of data science principles and techniques.
  • Demonstrated experience in software, systems, or other engineering development environment.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to bridge the gap between engineering problems and AI solutions.
  • Very solid proficiency in designing and implementing data analysis processes and experiments.
  • Hands-on experience with Large Language Models (LLMs), prompt engineering, or other generative AI technologies.
  • Ability to find meaningful insights from large data sources.
  • Expertise in machine learning tools and advanced statistical methods.
  • Able to implement complex agentic workflows
  • Proficiency in AI programming languages, Python at a minimum.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively across diverse engineering disciplines.
  • Self-starter and motivated to work through hard problems, both technical and administrative.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Familiarity with the full engineering product development lifecycle.
  • Experience with agile software development process.
  • Experience with process automation and optimization.
  • Understand cloud pricing models and be able to help with build vs buy decisions.
  • Aware of cybersecurity implications of different LLMs and different hosting environments

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Professional experience with data integration, data visualization, big data and programming skills, possessing a demonstrated understanding of artificial intelligence or machine learning with the ability to apply these skills under real world conditions

Very solid knowledge of either data mining tools, statistical pattern recognition, machine learning algorithms, predictive modeling and scripting

Demonstrates proficient judgement in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining analytical solutions

Capable of working on problems of diverse scope requiring extensive analysis of data and its evaluation

General Dynamics Proprietary Information

Experience working with and creating data architectures for distributed data

Experience with programming and scripting languages

Experience querying databases and using computer tools and programs

Experience using statistical computer languages to manipulate data and draw insights from large data sets

Background in data mining or statistical analysis or pattern recognition or predictive modeling skills

Able to understand various data structures and common methods in data transformation

Solid written and verbal communications skills
